Forbes Lists China’s Top Ten Richest in Technology

Forbes has listed the year 2015’s top ten richest technology persons from China who have sowed, reaped and thrived from the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) boom.

An English teacher turned to be the Founder and Executive Chairman of Alibaba Group, Jack Ma tops the Forbes list being the richest man in China and ranks 33rd in the world. Alibaba Group is a family of highly successful Internet-based businesses. Jack Ma grabbed the investors’ attention from around the world in September 2014 with the record-breaking $25 billion initial public offering of Alibaba group.

Ma Huateng, also known as Pony Ma, is a Chinese entrepreneur and founder of Tencent Inc. Ma Huateng is now world number 56th richest with $16.1 billion holdings. His WeChat mobile texting is a huge success and one of the most successful in China.

Robin Li, the Chinese entrepreneur and founder of China’s largest search engine, Baidu, ranks 62nd in terms of his net worth. Having a hold of $15.3 billion, he is a graduate from the University at Buffalo. Robin Li has reached high climbing the stairs of Baidu’s ladder. Baidu has strengthened the company’s wireless business and now they are slowly shifting their focus on voice and image recognition.

Lei Jun, a Chinese business man who is often referred to as the ‘Steve Jobs’ of China, has a hold of $ 13.2 billion and is 87th being the richest man in the world. He is the co-founder of Xiaomi Inc., along with his friend, Lin Bin.

Liu Qiangdong, is ranked as 179th in the world in terms of his $7.4 billion net worth. He is the main share holder of the online shopping site JD.com which was introduced to the public in the U.S. in 2014.

Wang Jing is a Chinese businessman and billionaire, who is the Chairman of Beijing Xinwei, which is a Chinese telecom company. Wang has ranked world number 195 for his $6.5 billion holdings. Known for his controversial plan to build a $50 billion canal across Nicaragua, Wang has led private wireless firm Beijing Xinwei Telecom Technology.

Ding Lei is the founder and CEO of NetEase, having a net worth of $6.6 billion dollars and stands 208th as the world’s richest man. Mr. Ding has been successful in turning NetEase as the world’s largest online and mobile game companies, having employee strength of 8000. The company has made an announcement that they have opened its U.S.A. headquarters in Redwood Shores, CA, and has planned to prepare the successful Chinese games as per the Western markets.
