TOKYO, JP: Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, develops new multibeam multiplexing radio communication technology for base stations conceptualized for the fifth generation (5G) mobile communication systems by linking tens of active phased-array antennas with massive antenna elements (massive APAAs) and using a new precoding technology to transmit streams of data by transmitters through parallel transmission.
The latest technology enables high-speed communication via high-frequency bands (>4GHz), achieving speeds up to 20 Gbps or speeds up to 60 times that of current 4G mobile base stations that use multi-input multi-output (MIMO) technology.
These MIMO technologies which could expedite the use of several hundred antenna elements could be used to compensate for propagation loss in high-frequency bands that would be used in 5G communication technology. Though incorporating these signals into digital would require enormous digital circuitry and power consumption, the only solution would be to develop a hybrid configuration using both analog and digital signals.
Mitsubishi Electric uses new nonlinear multi-diagonalization precoding technology combining multi-diagonalization precoding, with inherent interference, and nonlinear operation, which removes interference through multi-diagonalization precoding hence not interfering with signals and transmission speed even in crowded and dense environments
Mitsubishi Electric is also engaged in other efforts to commercially deploy ultra-high-speed communication exceeding 20Gbps to accommodate the increasing number of terminals in the Internet of Things (IoT).
