As legacy systems become obsolete and technology trends such as cloud, big data analytics, social, mobile etc become more common place, government organizations are also in a rush to leverage these trends so as to increase agility, efficiency and accountability. According to Gartner, to demonstrate 'digital now, digital first' leadership in government, CIOs must flip their approach to managing IT from the inside-out perspective of legacy constraints to the outside-in view of citizen experience. The Gartner survey revealed that infrastructure & Data Centre, Business Intelligence & analytics, cloud and mobile were the top technology priorities for CIOs. Cyber security is also of critical importance for public sector organizations.However, the challenges faced by CIOs in the public sector are many and the most critical one of them is the declining IT budgets, especially at the national level. According to Gartner, in 2015 approximately 30 percent of federal and national CIOs were dealing with decreasing IT budgets. The situation is the most acute in the APAC region. However, the region saw government ICT investments to be focused on consolidating and streamlining of scarce ICT resources, attaining better manageability tools for effective decision making, and addressing the urgent need to increase cyber security priorities of digital assets.To help the public sector deal with the impending challenges, there are several IT solutions providers that have come up with able solutions that leverage these technology trends.
