IoT in HealthcareEven technology can't stop the people from aging or staying away from chronic diseases, but can at least improve healthcare accessibility. IoT in healthcare is the best example for the implementation of technology. The technology is revolutionizing patient care as the means for better diagnosis, real-time monitoring, and accurate preventive measures. A number of medical institutions along with their patients are being experienced the miracle of this digital technology.

How IoT is beneficial in Healthcare?

Implementation of this technology in healthcare can provide exceptional benefits such as improvement in the quality of treatments, and enhancement of the health condition of patients. IoT devices consist of in-built sensors which can monitor the patient body continuously and generate timely reports about blood pressure, oxygen, and blood sugar levels.

Through mobile apps, doctors can analyze patient conditions after receiving notifications from IoT real-time tracking devices. It also enables information exchange and data movement that can elevate the effectiveness of healthcare services.

Few Healthcare Companies: Accumen, Carestream Dental, ForaCare

Challenges that are associated with IoT in Healthcare

Although IoT is a promising technology in the healthcare sector, still it is facing some significant challenges like data security and privacy threats.

Basic functionality of IoT devices is to capture and transmit data in real-time. Most of the IoT devices lack specific protocols and standards leading to hindrance in the process of data aggregation. Non-uniformity of these protocols in IoT devices may slow down the whole process and degrades the scope of IoT scalability in healthcare.

In addition to this, there is a significant ambiguity for data ownership which leads to compromise of patient's data. Cybercriminals can misuse this data and can file a fraudulent insurance claim in the patient's name.

Altogether, IoT seems to be an exciting technology which has brought many changes in the facilities of healthcare with growing value. Moreover, the concerns regarding data security can also be eliminated without breaching privacy through the advancements in IoT technology.
