April 20196 The government sector has always been accused of remaining a laggard when it comes to adoption of new technologies, but that may be changing today. With advanced analytics, intelligent process automation, and other emerging technologies, government and public service agencies are revolutionizing the way they address citizen demands.Technological innovations are increasing efficiency and transparency, improving and aligning processes, and transforming government transaction services, while helping enhance citizen satisfaction and trust, balancing costs and optimizing productivity. For example, innovations in high-speed networks, such as 5G, offer improved connectivity that can drive the development of new products and services. 5G's massive bandwidth helps IoT networks support a larger number of sensors to collect and transmit information. This can bring numerous advantages for integrated lighting systems, water and waste system management, and connected surveillance systems, all of which will help improve public safety. In addition, blockchain is proving to be a valuable societal tool for fighting election fraud or combatting diseases. That said, several public sector organizations are also seen using drones to not only review critical construction project progress, but also detect national threats. However, digital transformation in the government and public sector is not pain-free. Numerous factors are holding these organizations back from innovation, such as tight budgets, regulatory compliance, and skills shortage. To overcome these challenges and to be successful, organizations need an underlying digital transformation framework; an outline for how they will progress through periods of significant technical changes. In light of this, numerous companies have emerged as key facilitators in helping government and public sector agencies transition from legacy systems to their ultimate vision of building complete digital platforms. Given the dynamism surrounding the government technology, CIOs of public sector organizations are looking to partner with leading technology vendors and solution providers. Taking cognizance of the needs of C-suite executives in government organizations, APAC CIO Outlook has curated a list of companies that are defining the way forward for the government technology realm, along with contributory articles from industry experts that reflect their insights, experiences, and suggestions to peers. We hope the valuable insights and the novel solutions from leading as well as emerging companies featured in this publication will help you in making informed decisions for your technology endeavors.Let us know your thoughts!Annie Johnson To subscribe to APACCIOOutlookVisit www.apacciooutlook.comArt & GraphicsAmelia StewartFlynn SmythToby LangtonAnil KumarManaging EditorAnnie JohnsonEditorialThe Era of a Tech-Driven Public SectorSenior WritersLane Adams Clara MathewRoyce D'SouzaEditorialAlfred MardinLouis BeckerRachael ClarkRoy ChowSinchana NageshCopyright © 2019 ValleyMedia Inc.
