Uniqconn: Innovative Chip Solutions for High-Speed Wireless Transmission

,YD Kim, CEO, UniqconnYD Kim, CEO
Enabling wireless transmission of USB or Gigabit Ethernet signals involves a multi-step process. Initially, the original signal undergoes conversion into a wireless-compatible format, followed by its propagation through Wi-Fi technology. This process requires additional components and the establishment of a Wi-Fi infrastructure, leading to increased costs and delays.

Uniqconn aims to change this by introducing its semiconductor chip—a 60GHz transceiver and antenna designed to seamlessly convert conventional wireline protocols into wireless counterparts. Functioning as a bypass concept chip, Uniqconn's semiconductor transmits the original signal through the 60GHz unlicensed band, surpassing the signal quality of traditional copper connectivity. An added advantage is its ability to replace existing connectors and signal compensation chips without additional components.

The product portfolio includes advanced chips and antennas facilitating the wireless transmission of established wireline protocols. Leveraging the unlicensed 60GHz broadband spectrum, Uniqconn achieves high-speed data transmission at the Gigabits Per Second (Gbps) level without complex modulation techniques, integrating heterogeneous protocols effortlessly. The unique capability of the single chip to integrate and transmit multiple signals eliminates the need for separate microcontroller unit (MCU) or physical layer (PHY) chips, resulting in cost reduction, optimization of power consumption, and a reduction in the overall board size, enhancing the compactness and efficiency of the electronic devices using Uniqconn technology.
YD Kim, CEO of Uniqconn, envisions a future where connectivity is seamless, efficient, and integrated into every aspect of technology. The deployment of Uniqconn's singular chip eliminates manual plugging and unplugging of cables, obviates the need for disassembling and debugging products at the board level, and circumvents the requirement for users to physically connect cables for high-speed data transmission.

“Our mission is to streamline operational processes, reduce manufacturing and repair costs, and enhance customer experience,” says Kim.

Uniqconn's technology proves crucial amid escalating data rates, addressing challenges with copper cable connectors internally and externally in electronic devices. Beyond technical challenges, the contactless solution fosters innovation in the end-user experience.

The transformative technology extends its impact to enhance security and functionality in other areas, such as mobile service robots. Uniqconn's chip eliminates security risks associated with debugging ports, introducing an unprecedented level of protection through indiscernibility and double security measures.

Our mission is to streamline operational processes, reduce manufacturing and repair costs, and enhance customer experience

In the realm of USB connectors, Uniqconn's chip enables USB 3.2 speed compatibility even with magnet-type connectors of the same size. This breakthrough ensures that the advantages of ease and safety associated with magnet connectors are maintained without compromising data transfer speed.

In a significant step toward technological advancement, Uniqconn successfully tested its 1XX GHz transceiver and non-copper cable system, offering a compelling alternative to the limitations of high-speed and high-loss copper cable. Having verified the product through customer samples, it is gearing up for mass production, with plans to supply substantial quantities starting in the second half of 2024.

The company's dedication to delivering cutting-edge solutions, with a product design finalized using 100 percent in-house intellectual property, positions Uniqconn to usher in a new era of connectivity solutions, impacting the electronics industry.
