Advance E1: Augmenting the Functionality of EnterpriseOne

James Cunningham,Software Development Manager, Advance E1James Cunningham, Software Development Manager
“With a long-standing history in the corporate world, Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne ERP is still proving to be vital for businesses, and is now entering an interesting phase in its product lifecycle,” says James Cunningham, software development manager of Advance E1. The latest release of the EnterpriseOne software—version 9.2—which brings new enhancements for businesses to improve their problem-solving capacities, is a testimony to the software’s prevailing prominence in the ERP industry. However, there are certain functional areas within the software which are problematic and have historically required labor-intensive workarounds. “Having spent several years in the ERP landscape providing consulting services to businesses, we were able to observe those recurring issues, identify the deficiencies, and develop custom functionalities to tackle the problems,” states Cunningham. This led to the establishment of Advance E1. The mission was to utilize the combined experience of Advance E1’s able leadership team to remain at the forefront of providing improved performance for Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne.

As an Oracle Gold Partner, Advance E1’s focus is on extending the functionalities of EnterpriseOne through easy-to-integrate packaged solutions. Each Advance E1 product has specific design features and configurations which simplify their integration with the core EnterpriseOne application.
This allows Advance E1 products to easily extend the available process functionalities and facilitates the retirement of in-house modifications which reduces the cost of on-going maintenance. Coupled with that, Advance E1’s cost-effective and fixed pricing arrangement for application installation and support services make it simplified and transparent—a significant reason why Advance E1 is emerging as a go-to Oracle solution provider in the marketplace.

When it comes to addressing business challenges, Cunningham notes that there are numerous problems that a business might experience while implementing a standard, off-the-shelf ERP application. “Initially, we were trying to address each of these problems individually by building tailored solutions for enterprises to tackle EnterpriseOne’s shortfalls,” says Cunningham. Today, instead of building separate solutions for each of our clients, Advance E1 offers packaged solutions that can be easily integrated with the core EnterpriseOne software. These solutions include Automatic Demand Scheduler, Delegated Data Maintenance, Safety Stock Calculator, Inventory Location Reset, and Product Costing Accelerator. Delegated Data Maintenance, for instance, provides multiple data revision templates that can be deployed in a decentralized manner, allowing real-time delegated data revision by process or function. On the other hand, Product Costing Accelerator facilitates delivery of multi-currency costing and cost-replication functions for a company’s product costing processes which is highly beneficial to companies in the NAFTA zone. While some of the solutions (Delegated Data Maintenance) are generic and can be applied to any industry vertical, other solution packages cater specifically to the supply chain industry.

The implementation process involved in getting these packaged solutions onboard with a customer’s EnterpriseOne software also plays a significant role in the company’s growing popularity. “We provide our prospective clients with a trial version of our solutions before they choose to implement the full version,” mentions Cunningham. “Many of our clients are appreciative of this option as it helps them understand the significance and usage of our products better.”

Cunningham strongly believes that Advance E1’s distinctive product packages—a riveting mix of usability and flexibility—is the secret behind the company’s growth in a brief span of time. “These, combined with our premium customer support, are the facets that have made us unique in the Oracle solution providers landscape,” he adds. Having earned astounding recognition, the company now intends to roll out new features and build more re-seller agreements with third-party companies in the course of next 10-12 months.
