AMPAK Technology: Pioneering Wireless Networking Solutions for Global Connectivity and IoT Innovation

General Manager,Janet Wei, AMPAK TechnologyJanet Wei, General Manager

Since 2000, AMPAK Technology has led the way in designing, developing and supplying commercial and industrial-grade wireless networking solutions worldwide. The company promotes seamless connectivity and convenience by offering a wide range of wireless RF modules for multiple sectors, such as consumer networking, automotive, medical, industrial control, smart home and IoT. Its product portfolio includes wireless embedded networking devices that are pivotal for effective machine-to-machine (M2M) connectivity in the ever-evolving field of broadband communication.

"We assist businesses in all aspects of connectivity, providing comprehensive support tailored to their specific requirements," says Janet Wei, general manager at AMPAK Technology.

Responding to the explosive growth of the IoT market, AMPAK equips businesses to configure strong Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functionalities into their products. With a proactive approach, AMPAK’s design, hardware, and software integration experts deliver practical and economical solutions that adhere to industry standards, surpass client expectations and align with current trends.

AMPAK’s system-in-package (SiP) offerings comprise AP5881—an LGA SiP module based on Synaptics latest triple combo solution that offers integrated Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and 802.15.4/ Thread. This product is suitable for low- and continuous-power applications in wearable and smart portable devices. The LGA package design offers the benefits of a smaller package size, reducing development time and cost and accelerating product development cycles. Using 802.15.4/Thread wireless communication, the AP5881 enhances smart home experiences while also providing an industrial-grade operating temperature range (-30–85 °C) and global certification.

Another innovative SiP module, AMPAK’s triple-band AP6276 2x2 Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 combo module improves capacity, speed and coverage. This module complies with 802.11ax standards and can achieve speeds of up to 1200Mbps with dual-stream. It optimises the IoT sensor’s battery life, as well as enables spatial reuse.

The firm also offers AP5168G, a GPS functionality module that simultaneously supports GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, NAVIC and QZSS in both the L1/B1/E1 and L5/ E5a/B2a frequency bands. This compact, low-power SiP is explicitly designed for wearables and mobile accessories.

In recognition of the need for a unified standard for efficient IoT product implementation, AMPAK has developed an innovative solution AP71582R for matter protocol. This Matter solution revolutionises the smart home domain by improving IoT device setups and providing greater ease and convenience.

Matter combines existing wireless connectivity technologies with robust security features, including support for 802.15.4/Thread and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Its IP-based, scalable and easy-to-manage networking allows all Matter devices to be managed from a centralised cloud platform, providing real-time monitoring. Using end-to-end encryption, Matter ensures consumer security and data protection that allows users to confidently adopt smart home solutions. Matter is compatible with various devices, including smart bulbs, security sensors, media devices and building automation systems.

We assist businesses with all aspects of connectivity, providing comprehensive support for their specific requirements

AMPAK's SiPs are used to develop a range of products, including kiosks, storage robots, tablets, IP cameras, e-books, over-the-top set-top boxes (OTT STBs) and projectors. They also contribute to the development of automotive applications like dash cams, in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems, EV charging stations, driver monitoring systems and medical devices such as glucometers, x-ray machines and ultrasound machines. AMPAK continues to foster technological innovation and sustainability by bridging the gap between the metaverse and reality through ESG initiatives using AI, machine learning (ML) and other contemporary technologies.

Rich in high-frequency module and hardware design experience, customer applications, and market-oriented technical acumen, AMPAK’s team empowers the company to deliver unparalleled products. It specialises in production and logistics, design support and software development proficiency, providing assistance throughout the product development lifecycle. From consultation to technical support, its team offers personalised attention to each customer and ensures the modules satisfy their unique operational requirements. AMPAK conducts extensive high-frequency safety testing as part of its quality assurance processes, ensuring compliance with various regions' regulatory requirements.

Aside from its product offerings, AMPAK monitors market changes, prices and lead times to ensure cost-effective delivery. Its partnerships with industry giants like Synaptics, Amlogic, Rockchip, and Broadcom attest to the value it brings to the global IoT markets.

AMPAK’s reputation hinges on its ability to leverage its amassed experience and knowledge to provide time-and cost-effective solutions that are scalable and produce tangible results. Subsequently, the company continues to advance its Wi-Fi 6E and matter modules, with plans to develop automotive-grade Wi-Fi 7 modules and expand into the smart medical domain.
