Analogix Semiconductor: Bringing HD Experience in Multimedia Landscape

Founded in March 2002, Analogix Semiconductor holds its expertise in developing high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductor devices that are manufactured with cost-effective standard CMOS processes. The company harnesses VR technology to provide a fluid virtual experience through its proprietary product ANX7530. Moreover, effective use of AR and VR technology in retail and marketing further open ups new doors for market penetration.
Having in-depth industrial knowledge, Kewei Yang, Chairman and CEO at Analogix Semiconductor leads his team to create potent semiconductor coupled with design and engineering excellence.
The company designs interface connectivity and mobile display semiconductor solutions for the digital multimedia market—from smartphones, notebooks, and VR headsets, to high-definition TVs and high-end graphics cards. While developing mobile video solutions that enable high-performance viewing with low-power use, the company uses industry standards such as DisplayPort and HDMI.
The dynamic team behind Analogix emphasizes and focuses on the following three areas to bring out the company’s technology on the table. One, build thinner, lower-power and higher resolution displays using DisplayPort controller and monitor components. Two, allow mobile devices to display theatre-quality audio and video on virtually any HD display using SlimPort interface solution. And lastly, recycle the power that would otherwise be lost as heat to help mobile devices run longer, on a single charge using CoolHD technology.
Other than focusing on areas mentioned earlier, what sets Analogix in a unique place is their understanding of minute features that enhance the overall product. Any LCD screen needs a timing controller (TCON) to have an optimum display it. The low-power TCONs aid the devices to preserve battery life. Analogix specializes in low-power, high-speed timing controller solutions for high-resolution LCD panels. The analog and mixed-signal chips are designed to create DisplayPort devices that require minimal power to function efficiently for a longer time on a single go. The high-resolution LCD display solution, provides outstanding graphics, image, and color control. The two-lane embedded DisplayPort 1.4 compliant TCON, ANX2403 conducts Panel Self Refresh (PSR) and Selective update PSR (PSR2) functions. Virtual reality systems are defined by their display quality in terms of the pixel density and responsiveness to head movement. Leveraging the in-depth expertise of Analogix’s technology leadership, the ANX2403 enables higher video resolutions and increased refresh rates by providing an exceptional virtual experience. The ANX7530 has the potential to process video at up to 120 frames per second. Moreover, it supports Intel low refresh rate (LRR) and PSR2 for even further power reductions.
While radically transforming AR and VR technology, Analogix Semiconductor offers the solution for mobile devices to display movies, games, and applications on virtually any HD display. The company, combined with their deep expertise in the technology, will meet the growing demands of the industry. “We are committed to delivering high-performance mixed-signal devices focused on meeting our customers’ wide-ranging requirements,” concludes Yang.

Designed for mobile applications, the ANX7451 uses a 3.3mm x 4.8mm LGA-34 package and it feature... es an even lower power consumption, integrated clock source, and improved robustness of DisplayPort 1.4a. It is based on SRIS and BLR architectures and it complies with USB 3.2 Appendix E requirements, working seamlessly through the daisy chaining of multiple re-timers.
“As smartphones move to 10Gbps USB-C, the ANX7451 enables high bandwidth data and video transport of upcoming application processors over USB-C,” said Michael Ching, vice president of marketing for Analogix. “The ANX7451 is essential in maintaining signal integrity in flexible mobile system boards, as well as in the case of longer cable connection applications such as data synchronization, docking stations, and tethered mobile VR.”
The ANX7451 re-timer recovers and reinstates high-speed signals at both ends of active cables spanning from 2 up to 5 meters. This allows low-cost cable solutions to meet the performance and compliance requirements of high-speed DisplayPort and USB 3.2 signals.
Smartphone designs using application processors without an integrated USB-C™ power delivery (PD) port controller can use the ANX7411 companion, which integrates the logic to manage cable attach and detach, orientation, and role detection, providing full USB PD 3.0 support.
The ANX7451 is now sampling and will ship in mass production in Q3 2019.
Product demonstrations of 10G re-timers for smartphones, as well as next generation SlimPort® display controllers for AR/VR and dual-display solutions, are taking place during this week’s Mobile World Congress 2019 at the Analogix meeting room #2C31MR in Hall 2 at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona.
