Appian (APPN)
Orchestrating The Low-Code DIGI-Transformation

Appian (APPN)
Matt Calkins, CEO
Matt Calkins, the CEO of Appian, the market leader in Business Process Management has been honored as a Tech Titan three times in a row. Calkins, has risen to become a true visionary for the industry. His innovative approach in adding to the repertoire of Appian and the company's solutions has successfully powered a new thrust of 'low-code' digital transformation for multiple businesses, regardless of their sizes across the globe.

Appian, provides an end-to-end modern application platform to drive better business decisions, actions, and results. Through a simple social interface, all the data, processes and collaborations can be handled in a single environment, on any device. "Powered by Appian’s low-code platform with innovative and powerful business applications, industry-leading Business Process Management (BPM) and workflow management capabilities, Appian is like the jet fuel of digital transformation," extols Calkins.

Appian delivers a unique work platform. By combining their proven expertise, they strive to improve their processes with industry-leading innovations in social collaboration, enterprise mobility, and portable on-premise/cloud computing. Available through the web and mobile interfaces, the Appian BPM Suite is the easiest way to manage business processes, work automation, and social collaboration across the enterprise for employees, customers, and systems. End users who deploy the BPM Suite experience mobile access, news and alerts, reports and analytics, social collaboration and dynamic case management.

Appian’s functional solutions include mobile site inspections, financial operations, sales and marketing, operational efficiency, customer service, risk compliance and shared services.

Their online forums, blogs, and communities facilitate collaboration and knowledge-sharing among customers and partners, and offer one-click access to hundreds of application templates and components. With more than 3.5 million users around the globe, Appian has a vibrant and growing community of customers and partners across multiple industries and geographies.

Commercial and government organizations around the globe trust Appian with their mission-critical processes. Organizations all over the world from diverse sectors rely on Appian BPM to help them reach new levels of customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and business agility. The company's extensive clientele spans across energy, insurance and finance, healthcare and life sciences, manufacturing, retail, telecom media, transportation, and even public sector industries. As Calkins puts it crystal clear, "Appian is committed to delivering the best customer experience to its clients – through innovative technology and outstanding service."

For instance, Yong Tai Real Estate group is a Beijing-based real estate business giant that comprises thirteen wholly owned subsidiaries providing services in property management, real estate construction, facility operations, financing, and hotel management. The company required a standardized BPM application platform to manage workflow processes efficiently across all its projects, subsidiaries, and regions. To eliminate any information-related silos among all its companies, Yong Tai Group also needed to establish a centralized Knowledge Center of more than 100,000 documents. Appian came to the organization's aid with an automated contract management process, driving new levels of efficiency while significantly reducing error rates and providing a paperless audit trail.
Appian also delivered personalized information portals and collaborative workspaces for the tens of thousands of business users distributed throughout the subsidiaries and management of the company. Since Appian’s flexible service-oriented architecture simplified integration with Yongtai’s enterprise applications for budgeting/finance, project management, and customer relationship management, the company can now link cross-system business data into a centralized view.

Territory Insurance Office, Australia's only government-owned commercial insurance, and financial services provider encountered obstacles in managing the insurance offerings. The organization needed to fundamentally improve its process of handling claims and insurances by shifting from the traditional, laborious "manual claims processing" to a fully "automated, customer-centric case management approach". Appian's BPM based claims management solution, called Pearl, optimized all challenges and boosted TIO's performance by deploying cost-effective operational excellence and developed a digital product that focuses extensively on the customers. The system resulted in faster claim finalization, better “return to health and work” outcomes for claimants, and delivered lower outstanding claims provisions over time. " Pearl was later recorded as the most successful technology rollout in the company's history, being delivered on-budget, on-time, with stellar results," lauds Calkins.

After being highly successful in the APAC region and the U.S., the company is rapidly expanding into newer territories, especially in Europe, with its fast-developing suite of applications and strategic executive appointments. "Companies across the globe are demanding newer technologies for their digital transformation efforts, and Appian is addressing this need through differentiated software–which can streamline operations, increase the ability to be agile, and enhance the customer experience," concludes Calkins.
