Argus TrueID: Delivering Centralised Biometric Identity Authentications

Ken Farrow,Executive Chairman, Argus TrueIDKen Farrow, Executive Chairman
Most Government establishments and correction facilities employ security, operation policies, and technologies that rely on trusted identity. Correctional facilities in New South Wales Australia are no different; manual based identity verification systems were inefficient, time-consuming, inaccurate, and reliant on diligence and performance. Fraud, Mobile Phone Smuggling, Drugs, Assaults, Banned Persons, Restricted Access, Minors, Victims, False Credentials, Known Associates, Access Permissions, and a vast range of other issues rely on the establishment of a “True Identity” in order to respond to, manage or prevent the above. As most correction facilities were standalone, establishing the identity of persons visiting multiple facilities in support of any audit or investigation was near impossible. Upon collaboration, Argus TrueID—a biometric technology developer—installed Centralised biometric identity based custodial operations management solution throughout the State’s correctional facilities, allowing authorized personnel to check people’s identity, challenge and cross-reference identities through the unified database across the State. The collaboration with Argus TrueID not only enhanced operational efficiencies through the adoption of products that digitalize manual processes but also turned out to be cost-effective as the technology returned time to the staff to execute more important work. Argus TrueID has delivered numerous such projects within both Government and commercial sectors, making them a key enabler of biometric technology in the Asia Pacific Region.
The company holds immense expertise in the deployment of identity management solutions with a wide array of biometric technology such as Fingerprint, Finger Vein, Facial, Palm Vein, Voice, and Iris identification technologies. “Traditional identifiers (IDs) are less secure and are open to abuse, fraud, duplication, and theft. At Argus TrueID, we ensure that each solution is best suited to the area of application and business specific requirements,” says Ken Farrow, Executive Chairman of Argus TrueID. Being in the industry for almost20 years, Argus TrueID gathers the appropriate technology and resources to deliver solutions that span across the ‘biometric enterprise.’ The company’s offerings cover a broad application portfolio—access control, visitor management, time and attendance, tagged asset management, keysafe management, and biometric RFID are a few of the key solutions.

Built on a four-layer technology stack, TrueIdentity functions as a complete package that delivers an overall governance module for biometric applications used in the workplace. The first layer consists of biometric hardware such as fingerprint scanners, finger/palm vein readers, iris scanners, and facial and voice recognition modalities. “We have ensured that these hardware appliances coherently integrate with the business layer, which in turn aggregates data from multiple processes and uses this to provide unparalleled certainty across the enterprise for various applications,” adds Farrow. This application layer consists of application stack/modules that provide a variety of functionalities such as keysafe management, time and attendance, access control, secure credentials, visitor management, asset management and many more. This consolidated layer provides interoperability among the different features, and the integration layer allows biometric enablement of third party and a legacy system, a quintessential value proposition! The four-layer stack is flexible in that it seamlessly integrates with third-party applications such as infrastructure/building management, security and or primary business and commerce applications for enhanced flexibility of biometric authentication no matter where it is required.

Along with third-party integrations, Argus TrueID deploys their suite of applications based on client specific requirements and operating environments, thereby providing a “fit-for-purpose” solution. This is achieved by employing a cyclic refining process of design, implementation, and evaluation in line with risk-prone assets and processes within an organization, and merging biometric authentication application suite offered by Argus TrueID. The company’s vision of “fostering a safe and secure environment” is rightly justified by 18 years of research and development in the identity management industry that nurtures a wide spectrum of applications in the space.
