BMC Group: The 'Smart' Way of Sharing and Collaborating

Sean Allen,CEO, BMC GroupSean Allen, CEO
With the proliferation of information in the digital age, the ability to share and collaborate on content has never been more important. However, while the rise of consumer platforms has facilitated such sharing and collaboration they have fallen significantly short in doing so securely. This issue is further exacerbated by the fact that employees are bringing these flimsy consumer platforms to work with them which, in turn, has created a security void that puts companies at risk of losing control over their most sensitive data. When it comes to securing your company’s data, the stakes have never been higher.

Envisaging this threat across the business community, BMC Group VDR LLC (BMC Group) built its latest platform, SmartRoom Next Gen, with security and ease-of-use rolled into one. Companies’ employees can now share and collaborate on content in real-time with ease while also ensuring that they are doing so in a secure manner. The SmartRoom Next Gen platform provides businesses with a sleek and intuitive interface that allows employees to quickly adopt while also providing CIOs with the security infrastructure and features and functions that they require.

BMC Group’s CEO, Sean Allen, said, “Over the last 19 years we have been a leader in the data security space. However, we thought that we could take that security to another level while simultaneously providing our customers with a look and feel that your average consumer would gravitate towards.
The result was SmartRoom Next Gen, CIOs no longer have to choose between security and functionality, as we have built a platform that combines both.”

SmartRoom Next Gen was built on the latest Microsoft Technologies. It features a full open API that is designed to let customers extend their use of the product into their own operations. SmartRoom Next Gen is protected by multiple layers of logical, physical, and proactive security. It is backed by detailed audit logs and 24/7 monitoring of operations, security, and zero-day threat protection.

    SmartLock

In addition to its secure architecture, SmartRoom Next Gen also has security features and functions that go far beyond anything else available in the market. One such example is its SmartLock technology which allows administrators to remotely detonate documents even after they have been downloaded by end users. This feature guarantees that the company maintains full control of its data, even after it has been taken outside of the SmartRoom platform.

“We understand that users need to download content once in a while. However, that shouldn’t mean that those users should have access to that content in perpetuity. SmartLock ensures that the company maintains control of its data no matter where it goes. We are essentially extending our security beyond the platform,” says Allen.

SmartRoom Next Gen also allows the administrator to control every aspect of the user’s experience, even being able to restrict their ability to view, print, save or modify down to the document level. In addition, the platform’s reporting capabilities allow for a complete audit trail so that the company always knows who did what and when.

    Office 365 Online

In addition to these and other security features, the SmartRoom Next Gen platform also provides collaborative tools that create a user friendly experience. One such feature is Office 365 Online which allows users to create and edit Microsoft Office files directly within the platform. Mostly, every other competitor in the market forces you to leave the system in order to take such actions, while SmartRoom Next Gen allows for the ability to work and collaborate directly within the platform.
