BNW Consulting: Re-inventing Cloud Agility for SAP

Warwick Chai,MD, BNW ConsultingWarwick Chai, MD
"We see an absolute increase in the momentum for SAP on public cloud in the Asia- Pacific. Moreover, I believe that Australia is spearheading this movement as one among the most virtualized countries of the world,” says Warwick Chai, Managing Director at BNW Consulting, a leading SAP Cloud Migration and Technology service provider in Asia-Pacific. The notable increase in the demand for public cloud, mainly Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure, in the APAC region has dawned with a widespread adoption of agile, cost-effective, and innovative methodologies that are fuelled by the disruptive transition of traditional Capex data centre models into modern Opex cloud-driven models. However, rising beyond the concern of security risk and data confidentiality, organizations today are speculating more about the prospective benefits the cloud has to offer.

Realizing this phase-shift, BNW pivoted its trajectory to SAP cloud migrations four years ago securing its leading service provider position in this space, bringing in more than 20 years of experience in professional services. With its corporate headquarters located in Melbourne, Australia, a regional office in Singapore and delivery capabilities in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, BNW Consulting has established itself at the forefront of SAP migrations and re-platforming services for Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure throughout Asia-Pacific, with over a dozen successful SAP cloud deployments across the region. BNW is an AWS Advanced Consulting Partner and Microsoft Gold Partner.

In addition to its SAP cloud migration capabilities, BNW provides SAP services including infrastructure re- engineering, SAP platform modernization and upgrades as well as SAP performance analysis and optimization.

We pivoted BNW’s trajectory to SAP-on-public-cloud services four years ago enabling us to bring the right skills and experience to customers in a fast growing Asian market today

Accompanying its customers beyond successful projects, BNW’s service offerings include the full set of SAP application managed services (AMS) for AWS and Azure infrastructure, operating systems, SAP databases (including HANA) as well as SAP Basis/NetWeaver. In support of BNW service offerings, the company also made investments in software products.

Its leading product, SAP PowerConnect for Splunk, a SAP performance data analytics solution enables customers and service providers to obtain insights into business and technology related SAP performance. BNW practices a customer-centric approach adding value to their business through experience and expertise in understanding their SAP cloud requirements. To get started on their cloud journey, BNW works with customers by way of an Architecture and Planning engagement lasting 2-3 weeks. The results include an entirely architected SAP solution on AWS or Azure which is performance, reliability and costs optimized. In addition, BNW provides migration recommendations (e.g. lift & shift, import/export, re-deploy) as well as implementation plans. This information enables the BNW architect to devise an implementation plan for the customer with an elaborate costing and migration option best suited for the current platform of the client. “We pride ourselves on being very customer focused, nimble and fast. That is the reason that our clients have said that we work wonders by exceeding quality expectations and meeting their usually very tight timelines. This is the value we are adding to our customers,” adds Stefan Baumann, Director of Consulting Services and Operations for BNW.

BNW promotes a vibrant culture of learning and optimizing skills of its workforce. The company funds attendance of its employees to industry events such as SAP TechEd, AWS re:Invent or Microsoft Inspire as well as SAP and cloud certifications for its employees on an annual basis. The company is currently focused on helping its customers migrate their existing SAP solutions to the modern S/4 HANA platform without the need to go through a major, costly business transformation and has plans to expand its service portfolio and domain expertise in anticipation of the next market trend. Going forward on this development, BNW envisions a future with an exponentially growing scope for opportunities as customers grow more aligned to change and upgrade to S/4 HANA.
