CBS Corporation: Facilitating Wiser Business Decisions

Mr.Hideho Nishimura, President, CBS CorporationMr.Hideho Nishimura, President
“Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.” – The Wizard of Westwood

Looking back on CBS Corporation’s history, the above statement holds true to its very essence. Ever since CBS realized the dynamic nature of client requirements in the facilities management landscape in 1960, the company has only continued to tread on success, utilizing most of the accessible options in the marketplace to deliver optimal results to its clients. Boasting a successful track record of almost 59 years, the independent facility management service provider is built on the belief of establishing not partnerships, but longterm client relationships. Moving beyond pricing factors in the industry, CBS focuses on planning, rationalizing, quantifying and digitizing daily maintenance programs in hotels, offices, museums and similar other workplaces. “Sticking to the basics, we emphasise efficiency and productivity in our daily interaction with the clients, besides helping the employees from abroad get acquainted with our language, culture and manners,” states Hideho Nishimura, President, CBS Corporation. Digitalization of the facilities management space has been the driving force behind the company’s success in the recent years, placing CBS on the pedestal of innovation in terms of addressing customer requirements.

“Every organization in the facilities management space is fraught with a different set of challenges, be it energy saving, security, or cost related issues,” comments Nishimura. The company addresses each of these problems directly.
Case in point, CBS advises clients’ team to instil advanced energy saving measures by adopting electric suppliers capable of enhancing air conditioning and equipment efficiency. Besides, CBS also helps clients in adopting the right sensor control system to direct or regulate the actions of devices involved in an operation. In terms of security, CBS officials undertake a survey for the client site before assessing the security level to be implemented. The company takes care of the cost cutting measures for its clients by reviewing the specification of their products and services, performance levels, and collection of quotes.

CBS‘s suite of service include building maintenance and energy saving measures, which involve aiding clients in the maintenance of airconditioning, ventilation, electrical facilities, water supply sanitary systems, and drainage. “Our company also conducts fire management and cleaning services of buildings, including water tanks, kitchens, waste disposal, and pest control,” adds Nishimura. Added to that, CBS serves as an Energy Service Company (ESCO), facilitating Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) all the while reselling eco-friendly equipment. “Having embarked on an energysaving mission, we possess three solar power generating plants in Hiroshima, Ibaragi, and Tochigi prefecture. CBS has affiliated a bicycle manufacturing company in order to encourage eco-friendly travelling,” states Nishimura. CBS assists its clients in preparing security plans for their business while providing access control, biometrics, and closedcircuit cameras for workplaces. The team at CBS is adept at construction management as well as renovation tasks such as electrical and HVAC mechanic works. Also, the company excels at radioactive waste disposal, decontamination services, and radiation surveys.

In an instance, CBS assisted a renowned broadcasting company in relocating from one building to another. CBS reviewed the equipment provided by the client such as generator, UPS, 24-hours electricity system, as well as the risks associated with electricity blackout. The company also negotiated with the owner of the building regarding electricity charges and unit prices of resources on behalf of its client. During the operation, CBS had assessed the ‘responsibility division points’ by discussing them with the owner and the sub contractors of the building while taking care of the internal notices, creating reports and presentations for the CEO and the Board of Directors of the client simultaneously.

Bonding with clients over such success stories, CBS is currently designing holistic management systems for clients holding smaller areas of business. The company aspires to develop decarbonizing management systems, along with Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities and Artificial Intelligence (AI) solution sets. “We also aim to extend our business footprint across other countries in Asia, other than Myanmar and Japan,” concludes Nishimura.
