Cloudcon has been recognized by APAC CIOOutlook Magazine as the recipient of “Top Fleet Management Technology companies in APAC,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry. This profile has been developed by the APAC CIOOutlook research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Chris van Enk.

Delivering Paperless Fleet Management

Cloudcon
Chris van Enk, Managing Director
Over the last few decades, the fleet industry has witnessed several iterations of fleet management processes. From the utilization of electromechanical devices and punch-card-based equipment to the use of mobile devices for real-time updates, fleet management services have evolved in tandem with the changing business ecosystem. However, owing to the ever-increasing safety, maintenance, and servicing standards, the process of efficiently managing a fleet still requires managers to handle endless amounts of paper-intensive processes, causing delays and inefficiencies. In light of these challenges, it is fair to say that managing an efficient fleet of plant and equipment is not an easy feat. Hence, to overcome this hurdle with an innovative plant rental and fleet management software, Melbourne-based Cloudcon was born. The company’s cloud-based solution enables fleet managers in the construction space to eliminate the paperwork while staying compliant with industry regulations. “Our offering streamlines the safety, maintenance, and administrative requirements of construction projects to help clients reduce equipment downtime and increase operator productivity without having to compromise on quality, health, and safety compliance,” says Chris van Enk, managing director at Cloudcon.

Discussing the core competencies of Cloudcon’s software, van Enk elaborates, “Cloudcon’s solution enables operators to quickly escalate an issue or fault in a piece of equipment to the project supervisors or plant maintenance personnel so that they can immediately issue a work order for its rectification.” And with this capability, Cloudcon enables its clients to plan their maintenance needs and equips them with the appropriate resources to resolve their specific problem. Further, Cloudcon also provides a centralized database that facilitates ease of access for users to keep a track on all safety inspection checklists, maintenance documentation, and prestart forms. At the same time, Cloudcon optimizes the billing processes for plant rental companies by providing customized bills on an hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly basis. “We partner with equipment manufacturers and GPS providers to extract data from machines remotely and generate billing that accurately showcases a customer’s usage of plant equipment,” explains van Enk.

van Enk accredits his company’s success to its undivided emphasis on innovation and ability to offer solutions that are tailored to client-specific requirements. The company commences its client engagement process with a discussion that details the requirements of a customer and delivers a solution that is based on an organization’s maturity in the marketplace. In one instance, Cloudcon assisted Brisbane-based MPC Kinetic, an innovative, energy and resource services company to digitalize all their plant and equipment operation processes. After the collaboration, MPC Kinetic have gained the ability to have 24/7 live access to service and maintenance information, and now have an audit trail to track the completion of daily checklist and safety requirements. “We implemented a feature-rich product with only a minimal requirement for client customization. Alternatively, for larger companies, we allow bespoke customization to deliver form inputs, workflows successfully, and branding tailored to client requirements,” states van Enk. At the same time, by collaborating with equipment manufacturers, Cloudcon ensures that its solution is always up-to-date with the current trends in the industry.

Looking ahead, Cloudcon aims to improve market penetration in Australia and also expand its local team. In the long run, the company wants to assist plant rental and fleet management businesses in other APAC locations to demonstrate the efficacy of its solution to a wide range of customers. “As we meet new challenges and take on new clients, we plan to continue enhancing our reputation and solution simultaneously,” concludes van Enk.
