Though smart utilities, smart buildings, and connected vehicles have become quite common, they only form fragments of the complete vision which is an end-to-end integrated, connected, self-sustained smart city effectively addressing all needs of the people residing in it. “Our goal is to transform smart campuses/ cities to a self-sustained, smart ecosystem and help make people’s lives easier through proper management of the same. In the process, we envision to become India’s first corporate smart city operator - a full-fledged smart city management company,” states Pawan Koyal, CEO, Denali Management Services. Based in Bangalore, India, the company hits the bull’s eye from a situational perspective as its mission aligns with the Indian Government’s grand vision to develop more than a hundred smart cities in the country within the coming five years i.e by 2022. As the first step towards its goal, Denali Management Services extends a novel ‘One Campus’ approach that emphasizes on transforming organizations’ Core Asset Value through innovative, fully connected smart asset solutions and services, using technology to drive the transformation.

Talking about what inspired Denali to take such an approach, Koyal refers to the IT Boom that revolutionized India’s corporate sector fifteen years ago. This led to a rapid mushrooming of IT or IT Infrastructure Services organizations within gigantic campus buildings that held thousands of employees. However, as years went by and the health of these buildings and other assets deteriorated, property owners started finding it difficult to attract newer tenants and offer greater value to customers.
This is where Denali, with its extensive domain acumen, drawn from synergistic amalgamation of industry leaders from a broad spectrum of expertise in Integrated Facilities Management, Strategic Sourcing & Supply Chain Management, Technology and Vendor Management professionals comes into play.

Denali’s integrated approach using predictive analytics, preventative and corrective maintenance, complete life cycle asset management, environmental health and safety, day-to-day support functions, cost management and more helps deliver world-class services. The firm’s innovative solutions and services are tailor-made to offer integrated streamline asset maintenance and operational lifecycle for the owner and greatly enhance asset value while providing a world-class experience for the campus users.

Denali’s solution is a unique platform that combines AI, big data, IoT and extends fog computing reference architecture to build a smart and self-sustained ecosystem within deployed campuses. The system thus facilitates a wholly connected ecosystem that efficiently integrates all storage, computing, and networking operations between the campus’s end devices and its data centers. Deployable through cloud or on-premise, customers can seamlessly utilize the installed systems and generate massive amounts of relevant data through Denali’s highly intuitive applications. One such innovative solution is Enterprise service bus based platform leveraging a SOA based Architecture that connects multiple external software, devices, and helps synergize heterogeneous applications. “This allows our platform to precisely address every customer requirement regardless of the market segment and take the very idea of connected enterprises to a whole new level,” remarks Koyal. A testimony to this fact is Denali’s application for the video surveillance industry. The company’s AI-enabled solution allows CCTV cameras to self-determine any problematic situation—without the need of a separate operator and readily alert the enterprise’s emergency response team.

Koyal has a well-drafted plan to steer the company’s future course. Currently into campus management for IT and ITeS sectors only, Denali aims to extend its solutions to the Indian Air Force, sea ports, industrial tech parks, and metro service industries in the next five years. In the meantime, Denali would also look to expand into North America, South-East Asia, South America, the Middle East and build a global platform that focuses more extensively on people’s behavioral patterns and needs. As the Indian Government’s shortlisted smart cities finally become functional by that five-year period i.e 2022, Denali would have the necessary expertise and technology to effectively run the smart cities as a world-class professional operator, hence fulfilling its original vision.
