    FromLabs: Innovative, Cloud-based Custom Solutions

CIO VendorPetteri Kaskenpalo, Director of Innovation and Indra P Wijaya, MD
Imagine thousands of riders on their bicycles along Chicago’s famous Lake Shore Drive - it's the city's iconic cycling event 'MB Bike the Drive. And as the riders are cruising along the water, enjoying the magnificent view of the city's skyline, the entire events are managed by a small Singapore-based start-up: FromLabs.

Using their FromLabs Event software, they are the masterminds behind everything from managing the registration to selling merchandise or arranging the pick-ups for the event. Their software is a unique suite of solutions, weaving together new technologies to seamlessly integrate communication, learning, and activity-based processes.

FromLabs started as a research and development group back in 2012 and has since built several cloud-based and custom applications. “Both for individual users and large organizations, we have improved processes and delivered effective solutions based on new, innovative technologies,” explains Managing Director Indra Wijaya. The company’s flexible and dynamic event management software FromLabs Event can be easily customized and integrated into any client’s CRM or ERP software.

What are the core features of FromLabs Event? It for instance, assists in streamlining any given registration process so that companies or organizations can easily manage the relevant data to sure their event is a success. Through the software, FormLabs' customers can attain information about their events or send out notifications to attendees. Thanks to the interactive map feature, the software also ensures that participants won’t ever get lost. Lastly, the software also offers a platform for all attendees to create a communication network amongst each other.

We are an exciting company that enables people to be active as well as activate others

Of course it also assists in collecting valuable feedback, making the event social and engaging with an integrated game.

The Seek and Spot app is another key solution offered by the firm. “It is a new way to enable gamification and interaction and the idea of this application is to add fun to traditional games,” explains Petteri Kaskenpalo, Director of Innovation at FromLabs. With Seek and Spot, players can use their mobile devices for both better interactions and a larger reach: Using GPS, they can for instance create games as an interactive tour guide. Every stop of the tour or exhibit can be found via the app while scanning QR codes can be used to verify them. The participants can also get real time updates on their co-players’ location, add friends, invite to play or simply chat with them. “We are an exciting company that enables people to be active as well as activate others,” says Mr Wijaya.

For art galleries or museums, the company brings a new way to interact and keep any exhibition cutting edge in the digital world with its InfoSpot solution. It is a web, iOS, and Android-based app through which visitors can view content and explanations to whatever the exhibition has on display. If you think of a museum for instance, the app will guide you through the exhibition and with GPS, iBeacons or QR codes will offer you additional information - like a virtual and customizable personal guide. The museum can manage any content it wants to feed into the app via an easy-to-use cloud-based web-interface.

FromLabs also has a solution for various types of challenges like sporting events - the FromLabs Challenge app. It tracks and pushes participants to reach their campaign goals, to challenge each other individually or between larger teams. The app can be used for biking, running, walking, riding public trasportation, scavenger hunts, or any other type of activities.

One of the company’s key assets is that is can be flexible and analyse customer needs and tailor its offers to each client’s needs. Built on a strong team of diverse members from the US, Finnland, New Zealand, Indonesia and Vietnam, FromLabs has an open work environment and believe in sharing their ideas with clients to help them find new innovative and creative ways to solve any given issues.

“We are a company focused on problem solving and that’s how we work on the customers’ issues and implement solutions for them,” says Wijaya. “That means, we remain flexible throughout the entire process of managing projects from conceiving the idea to the actual software implementation.”
