Gridsum Holding, Inc. [NASDAQ: GSUM]: Informed Business Decisions for Enhanced Productivity

CTO,John Liu, Gridsum Holding, Inc.John Liu, CTO
"With an aim to transform the industries through technological innovations, Gridsum Holding, Inc. [NASDAQ: GSUM] was founded by its Chairman and CEO Guosheng Qi and a few of his Tsinghua University undergraduate classmates in 2005, even before ‘big data’ became a buzzword. The founding team believed that the need to use distributed computing power to tackle the complexity and volume of data that was growing at exponential speed would present tremendous challenges for enterprises, thus creating opportunities for companies with the right technology and expertise in the big data space. The company is named ‘Gridsum’ to symbolize the combination of ‘Grid,’ representing grid computing or distributed computing and ‘Sum,’ the simplest form of data analytics, explains the core competency of the company, delivering scalable and high-performance data analytics solutions through distributed computing power. Gridsum evolved over the past 12 years by continuously investing in its big data and AI platform technologies while delivering big data, AI products and solutions to clients from one industry or domain to the next. “Now companies across industries have the advantage of our full stack of solutions to collaborate and expand their businesses and take a data-driven approach to achieve smart growth,” says John Liu, CTO of Gridsum.

The motto of Gridsum is ‘Data Focus, Value Creation.' Gridsum's Big Data, AI, platform and software solutions, power the growth of its clients by helping them in improving the efficiency and effectiveness in product R&D, digital marketing, and business operations while empowering the digital transformation of the clients and the industries.

The firm offers an array of solutions for digital marketing, e-government, new media, justice, finance and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) to achieve the mission of “technology changes industries to eventually enhance society development”. Gridsum Growthforce is the firm’s data-driven, end-to-end digital marketing solution suite that helps its client to reach their target audience, build and manage customer loyalty, listen and respond to customer feedback and sentiment, and grow their business with measurable results. While Gridsum ComPaaS is Gridsum’s IIoT platform that offers big data and Enterprise AI capabilities along with domain-specific knowledge systems. ComPaaS enables Gridsum to provide big data and AI solutions to industrial enterprises to optimize their production, manufacturing, and operations processes with services such as predictive equipment maintenance and designing smart product features, like adaptive energy consumption prediction for hybrid and electric automobiles.

Another vital offering of Gridsum is its suite of big data and AI-powered legal solutions that are built on top of its big data and AI platform augmented with industry pioneering knowledge graphs of legal codes, laws, statutes, and trial verdicts. The solution has been developed with the joint effort of the firm’s in-house legal experts, data scientists, and engineers in partnership with the legal experts from the Supreme People’s Court Press. “These solutions help judges and prosecutors across the country to be more productive,” adds Liu.

Gridsum has an extensive portfolio of customers, including big names like SAIC, GAP, Coca-Cola, Beijing 4th Middle Court, Tencent and P&G that stand as the proof of Gridsum’s technical proficiency. In the future, Gridsum aims to continue to put its effort into building a powerful Enterprise AI platform with both cognitive and perceptive capabilities. As the firm has applied its futuristic technologies in a wide spectrum of industries in which digital marketing is on its priority list, it is forging a strategic partnership with JD Cloud to leverage Gridsum’s strength in marketing technology and JD’s strength in e-Commerce to offer complete digital marketing solution to our clients. “In IIoT, we are developing exciting, intelligent applications and solutions as well as the ComPaaS platform that will bring tremendous economic values to the industries,” states Liu. He concludes by saying, “In terms of geographic expansion, Gridsum is started to look at opportunities outside of Mainland China, in particular in the South East Asia.”
