International travel sources and global economy are returning to their pre-pandemic state. Among the countries looking to capitalize on this resurgence, China is leading the pack.

According to China Duty Free Group, the total Chinese duty-free goods consumption will reach RMB 614 billion (USD 89.6 billion) by 2025.

Helping businesses benefit from this growth is iClick Interactive Asia Group Limited (NASDAQ: ICLK), a leading data-driven online marketing and enterprise solution provider in China.

Founded in Hong Kong in 2009, iClick is a leading digital marketing solutions provider that helps brands unlock the enormous market potential of smart retail. With over 300 multinational corporations and 3,000 direct marketers and agency clients around the globe, iClick is the trusted digital partner for the Greater China Market and Travel Retail. Recently, iClick launched a new travel retail publication titled ‘A Practical Guide to Engaging with Chinese Travelers: China Travel Retail Market Facts and Tips to Know (2023 Edition)’. This 64-page book is curated and edited by VP of International Business, Cody Chan, who shared valuable insights surrounding China’s travel retail sector through a marketing lens. His vast consumption trends knowledge provides an essential overview that highlights a positive outlook for the industry.

“Our newly launched guide serves as the Chinese marketing playbook that supports brands and travel retailers looking to expand their business and effectively engage with the new wave of Chinese consumers,” said Cody Chan. Another proactive step iClick takes is organizing a travel retail marketing workshop titled 'Tapping on Business Opportunities Arising from Hainan’s Dynamic Duty-Free Economy' at 'The 3rd China International ConsumerProducts Expo.’ This event was the culmination of a partnership between the Hainan Provincial Bureau of International Economic Development (IEDB), Ernst & Young (EY), and Got Duty Free (GDF).

Targeting the Chinese traveler realm, it presented critical insights to create target audience-tailored marketing strategies and combine them with the latest advancements within the postpandemic travel and digital marketing landscape.

A Partnership-Driven Approach to Boosting Travel Retail

iClick partnered with Xiaohongshu (XHS), a premier social media and e-commerce platform, to unlock new domestic brand engagement opportunities.
The strategy of blending content creation, community engagement, and e-commerce, transformed Xiaohongshu into a go-to, vibrant lifestyle platform where Chinese consumers can confidently share their fashion, beauty, food, and travel experiences.

iClick was recently appointed as XHS's Official Advertising Partner to help overseas brands drive awareness, user engagements, and boost sales in China’s dynamic market. Through this collaboration, iClick provides a one-stop marketing solution for international brands to seamlessly tap into the Xiaohongshu platform. This includes official brand account registration, account management, content creation, advertising and influencer marketing strategy. Marketers can also choose from various paid ad formats, including open splash, in-feed, and keyword search ads to boost consumer awareness and conversions.

iClick also owns an exclusive network of over 100 toptier key opinion leaders (KOLs) covering diverse subjects. And iFans, iClick’s proprietary KOL marketing analytics platform, empowers businesses with comprehensive data analytics powered by Xiaohongshu’s KOL network. This helps brands identify premium specialists, track competitor initiatives, and manage dedicated marketing to optimize their brand’s presence on Xiaohongshu.

Conferences by iClick x Xiaohongshu

In July and August 2023, iClick held two impactful marketing conferences in Hong Kong and Macau to formalize its partnership with Xiaohongshu.

Our newly launched guide serves as the Chinese marketing playbook that supports brands and travel retailers looking to expand their business and effectively engage with the new wave of Chinese consumers

In Hong Kong, the 'iClick x Xiaohongshu: Inbound Marketing Conference 2023' achieved remarkable success, attracting more than 100 enthusiastic marketers. The Conference in Macau drew the attention of marketers eager to understand Xiaohongshu's tailored solutions and effectively connect with travelers. During this event, iClick invited two Xiaohongshu speakers from the Customer Business Development Department, Icarus and Sula, who presented their marketing capabilities and impactful case studies.
