The 'Chinese Travel Shoppers 2022' whitepaper presents how China's travel retail market showed unmatched resilience compared to the global landscape in the face of pandemic-driven disruptions. While the country's four largest international travel retailers (The Shilla Duty-Free, Lotte Duty-Free, Dufry Group, and DFS Group) saw at least a 38 percent drop between 2019 and 2020, China's travel retail market only saw a 4.8 percent drop, followed by a 66.8% growth the following year.
