Transforming Data into Information

In today’s world abuzz with IoT, data has emerged as the differentiating factor for a business, across industry verticals. However, most organizations struggle to discover and synchronize the existing data within their systems, let alone deriving insights by applying analytics. Small and medium enterprises, in particular, face major hurdles in adopting data analytics and cloud technologies because of the lack of capital and IT expertise. An innovative software provider, Indicium Dynamics finds ways to make data meaningful. “We make it easy for companies to overcome the challenges of siloed data systems and unlock the potential of their data through our expertise in data and cloud technologies,” says Mike Ross, Founder and CEO of Indicium Dynamics.

Indicium Dynamics addresses the growing complexity of data types and systems with their unique data integration platform, the Indicium DataBus, which has the ability to synchronise data from various end points, and allows for analysis on premise or at the network edge. Most organizations collect data, either manually or automatically—through some sort of automated system such as SCADA or Building Management System—but that data is either not collected, or is stored in legacy siloed systems. Indicium’s data integration platform not only helps organizations extract, collect and share data among systems but also allows them to take that data into the cloud where an abundance of new analytic tools can be leveraged for processing data and generating insights.

Further, the platform supports organizations to tailor their cloud deployments to match their operational and security needs.

We make it easy for companies to overcome the challenges of siloed data systems, unlocking the potential of their data through our expertise in data and cloud technologies.

Further tailoring of the system can be achieved through development of customized plugins to suit the customer’s specific requirements, or by using the inbuilt scripting engine to build custom integrations or data analytics processes. Featuring an HTML 5 interface for configuring and testing data sources, the platform enables users to view their data through custom dashboards.

Indicium Dynamics also builds bespoke solutions for clients using the Azure cloud, drawing upon a wide range of experience delivering data analytics applications utilizing complex models leveraging R and other modelling systems like Aquarius Forecast for flood forecasting.

“We work with specialist firms like WMA Water and Entura to provide subject matter expertise in hydrological space,” says Mike. “We have built mobile apps that take complex engineering data and provide views that can be easily understood by end users,” notes Mike. Indicium Dynamics have recently developed a number of apps for renewable energy projects around Australia. These apps provide the public with real-time insights into the use of renewable energy in their electrical grid, while also allowing plant operators to view alarms and allow researchers to access rich datasets for analysis.

Mike recalls an instance wherein one of their customers, a manager of a number of irrigation schemes, faced difficulties to access data from their centralized SCADA system. Maintaining a long-term record of their data was viewed as an expensive proposition. Within 2 hours of installing Indicium DataBus, the client archived their data from the SCADA systems in Azure cloud. As a result, they are now able to create reports based on the collected data and make it available to their external stakeholder in real-time.

In the days to come, Indicium Dynamics will continue enhancing the business process capabilities by adding more advanced functionalities to their solutions portfolio. In an effort to widen the reach of their DataBus platform to a wide audience globally, the firm intends to enhance their product offering tailoring to the unique needs of their clients
