Editor’s Note: Compliance now demands more than rule-following as organizations face rising scrutiny, operational complexity and faster regulatory change. This perspective gives APAC CIO Outlook readers a practical lens on how expertise, innovation and disciplined execution can turn compliance into a stronger foundation for trust and resilience.
Peak Compliance Associates Limited (PCA) is an award-winning, Asia-focused financial services consulting firm. With strategic operations in Hong Kong and Singapore, we provide comprehensive compliance and advisory services to financial institutions regulated by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
Our core expertise is built upon four specialised business lines:
1. Regulatory Licensing
2. Compliance Advisory
3. Compliance Training
4. Regulatory Projects
We empower non-banking financial institutions such as asset management firms, investment advisors, and family offices to maintain efficient operations by serving as their dedicated third-party compliance advisor.
1.Regulatory Licensing Applications
PCA frequently guides financial institutions through the complexities of market entry, specialising in SFC license applications such as Type 1 (Dealing in Securities), Type 4 (Advising on Securities), Type 6 (Advising on Corporate Finance), and Type 9 (Asset Management) licenses. Recognising that the application process typically spans several months, we provide the seasoned expertise necessary to pre-empt regulator questions and ensure a streamlined timeline for approval.
The digital asset landscape has matured into a high-speed regulatory environment. As of early 2026, Hong Kong has seen fully licensed Virtual Asset Trading Platforms (VATPs) surge to 12, while approximately 15 applicants have withdrawn due to the rigorous standards. In parallel, a growing number of licensed corporations are seeking to obtain Virtual Asset (VA) dealing, advisory, and asset management licenses – with fewer than 80 regulated firms for each license category. PCA is proactively engaging with firms interested in this space, following the latest SFC Updates on stablecoins and virtual asset management to provide expert, forward-looking support for our clients' licensing applications.
In any jurisdiction, experience is the differentiator. We have successfully guided hundreds of Licensing Applications by pre-empting the regulator's questions and optimising the processing time.
2.Compliance Advisory
Maintaining a license requires strict adherence to evolving regulatory obligations. PCA provides the expert oversight needed to manage:
● Regulatory Updates – Keeping clients abreast of relevant regulatory developments in Hong Kong and Singapore.
● Policies and Procedures – Assisting clients in maintaining and updating their compliance policies and procedures.
● Compliance Calendar – Keeping track of regulatory and compliance obligations that are applicable to each client and providing timely reminders to relevant stakeholders.
● Regulatory Notification Support – Assisting clients with drafting and subsequently filing notifications to regulators.
3.Compliance Training Hong Kong
The SFC mandates that licensed individuals complete annual CPT (Continuous Professional Training) hours. PCA offers online and in-person training courses which may be considered as fulfilling CPT hours, focusing on topics such as:
● Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML/ CFT).
● Ongoing Compliance Obligations
● Hong Kong Licensing Requirements
● ESG Regulations in Hong Kong
● Senior Management Responsibilities
Courses are available in English and Mandarin via PCA’s Thinkfic Platform.
4.Regulatory Projects & Inspections
Our Regulatory Projects team assists with ad-hoc challenges, from gap analysis of policies to writing compliance opinions and regulatory assessments.
A critical area of our work involves supporting clients during SFC or MAS inspections, which typically occur every 3-7 years. We guide firms through the inspection process, ensuring their internal controls align with current regulatory expectations.
Digital Transformation in Compliance
We are actively exploring technology-driven solutions to enhance regulatory efficiency and precision. By seeking to leverage regulatory technology and artificial intelligence, our goal is to simplify complex compliance processes, improve transparency, and provide clients with real-time insights that strengthen governance and oversight.
