As the worlds of technology and telecommunications move closer together in the minds of consumers, many technology vendors are moving into the telecommunications space, offering over-the-top (OTT) options and value-added services. Because of this, telcos today must look beyond traditional services and innovate to set themselves apart.

To this end, M1 has expanded its service offerings strategically to cement its position as a leading provider of connectivity solutions in Singapore. Since 2018, the company has added expertise in cloud computing, ultra-high-speed networks, and the Internet of Things (IoT) to its portfolio of services, which enables them to assist and support organisations as they implement digital transformation upgrades such as cloud-based infrastructure, adapt to the next normal. Today, the company delivers customised business mobility solutions that provide clients with the tools they need to achieve greater business and operational efficiency.

"Our on-demand, self-service and elastic resources are both flexible and reliable, offering clients' the best of both worlds by aligning storage capacity and performance to best suit the requirements of their applications," said Willis Sim, Chief Corporate Sales and Solutions Officer at M1.

Although M1 has differentiated its services to provide businesses with the connectivity and computing they need to launch, scale and thrive, the company has successfully established its international direct dialling and local mobile communications capabilities.

Our on-demand, self-service and elastic resources offers clients' the best of both worlds by aligning storage capacity and performance to best suit the requirements of their applications

It was the first operator to offer nationwide 4G service, ultra-high-speed fixed broadband, fixed voice and other services on the Next Generation Nationwide Broadband Network (NGNBN) and continues to provide mobile and fixed services to over two million customers.

In addition, M1 strives to be on the cusp of new and emerging trends in telecommunications so as to be as forward-thinking as possible, and to have a plan in place about testing, implementing and launching new services. One such upcoming product is its 5G network. After receiving a 5G network licence from Infocomm Media Development Authority's (IMDA), M1 has worked with various partners to test 5G capabilities and efficiencies, including a collaboration with restaurant HaiDiLao, where M1’s 5G network enables its flagship smart restaurant to us smart machines to achieve an enhanced customer experience.

M1’s 5G network across Singapore will bring with it a suite of new products and services to consumers, enterprise and government. The 5G technology will not only bring an exponential increase in network speeds, but also offer ultra-low latency, enhanced network resiliency and security, and intricate end-to-end slicing to drive the digital economy of Singapore.

"You can count on us for the best support experience and focus on growing your business," said Sim.

By offering a mix of tried-and-true services, such as international dialling and fibre broadband, in addition to flexible business solutions that can scale with a company and future-looking products such as 5G, M1 has risen to the challenge to innovate and has become a telco that is also a forerunner in the realm of managed services.
