4 Ways to Boost an E-Commerce Business

By Apac CIO Outlook | Wednesday, July 24, 2019
    Tweet

When stepping into a fierce and competitive e-commerce market, startups need to ensure a seamless shopping experience to ensure customer engagement.

FREMONT, CA:  Setting up an e-commerce business in the online commercial market reigned by giants such as Amazon and eBay is a daunting prospect. Although it is considered a cost-effective approach to kick-starting a business, it will not only require regular funding but extensive efforts as well. The success of an e-commerce business not only depends on the idea behind it, but also the investment in the form of finances, patience, and strategic implementation.

    Customer Engagement

The rapid innovation in the internet, smartphones, and other digital tools has empowered individuals to bring their ideas to life. However, the ease of access has also resulted in the fierce competition in the e-commerce sector. Although many entrepreneurs possess innovative ideas, they fail to earn customer trust. Hence, it is vital to keep up to date with the evolving trends and customer needs, making the necessary changes to operations whenever required.

    Video Content

Video content is gaining prominence over long sentences, or even pictures. It not only simplifies the message but also helps in making a lasting impression on the mind of the customer. Video content has more potential to attract customers to e-commerce websites and provides an efficient approach to enhance customer engagement. Hence, leveraging video content will significantly boost the success of e-commerce startups.

    Accessibility

Since consumers spend more time on their smartphones than on computers and laptops, it is advisable to leverage websites optimized for smartphones. The websites need to have easy to use controls, which will enable consumers to sort through the offerings seamlessly. Also, e-commerce startups need to invest in website aesthetics to ensure better customer engagement.

    Innovation

E-commerce startups need to make sure that their products stand out when compared to similar products available in the market. Although thousands of consumers will potentially visit the website, there is no guarantee they will make a purchase, or even if they will return to the website. Hence, it is imperative to incorporate innovative offerings such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and so on to simplify the shopping experience.

Apart from aesthetics, seamless shopping experience, and customer engagement, it is crucial to monitor the logistics. Poor product handling and late deliveries might lead to bad consumer experience, which might lead to a decrease in the potential customer base. Hence, it is vital for organizations to ensure a seamless and engaging shopping journey to the customers.
