    Agile Working for Business Efficiency

By Apac CIO Outlook | Monday, August 05, 2019

The maintenance of an agile workforce is essential to meet the criteria of the competitive market. Business leaders and the HR departments must properly integrate Artificial Intelligence and humans to achieve the desired agility.

There is a belief that instead of making workplace agile, Artificial Intelligence makes the human workers inactive. According to a report by Pew, 70 percent of the Americans are skeptic about the usage of Artificial Intelligence at the workplace. But, this belief lacks a rational basis. AI is a technology that enhances the capability of workers and helps the companies to properly channelize the monotonous workload to technology to make the human workers more active and agile.

For example, in the healthcare sector the monotonous, heavy, and complex back-office tasks are shifted to machines to enable the human workforce to focus more on other important areas. In the insurance industry, the risk factors related to a new deal are dealt with leveraging robotic process automation because this time-consuming task makes the human workforce blunt and hampers agility of an institution. So, for agile working proper collaboration between the human workforce and AI has to be made.

Except for the integration of Artificial Intelligence, to maintain an agile working, companies have to focus to maintain flexibility in the workplace. Ernst & Young’s study pointed out that 77 percent of millennials believe that flexible workplace enhances the productivity of employees providing them proper freedom. In order to maintain agile working companies need to cut short expenses related to the office building and have to allow employees to work from places according to their convenience.

Proper collaboration and project management are essential to maintaining agility in the workplace. Companies have to allow remote members to participate in an ongoing project to share their opinion with the team members and to render this task. Management has to leverage different tools such as Skype, Basecamp, Slack, Zoom, and GoToMeeting to facilitate the whole process of communication. An agile workplace is helpful for both employees and companies. The employees receive a better opportunity to maintain a work-life balance, and companies can reap more profit by maintaining a healthy relationship with employees.
