Amazon Announces Launch of Echo Input Portable Smart Speaker

    Apac CIOOutlook | Monday, December 09, 2019
    Tweet

Echo Input Portable is a 4800mAh battery powered smart speaker. Alexa adapts to the speech patterns and vocabulary of the user and can perform multiple controls like switching on the living room lights, geysers, and AC

Fremont, CA: Adding another product to its ecosystem, Amazon launched Echo Input Portable Smart Speaker Edition, which is also an exclusive product to the Indian market.

Echo Input Portable is a 4,800mAh battery-powered smart speaker. It has the in-built battery and 360-degree sound and functions exactly as other echo devices do. Though the concept what Amazon wanted to bring is simply the enhanced sound feature, the name is a little long and confusing.

Previously launched, Amazon's other echo input device was speaker-less and needed to be plugged-in to an existing audio system or speaker to get Echo functionality to the current device. But, the Input Portable is entirely different, and it has a speaker of its own.

This limited edition voice-controlled smart speaker's built-in layer 4800mAh battery guarantees 10 hours of music playback (11 hours of standby battery time) on a single charge, making it the best portable device.

Catering to the needs of smart homes, Alexa adapts to the speech patterns and vocabulary of the user and can perform multiple controls like switching on the living room lights, geysers, and AC. Even Alexa can follow a routine if set so, and you don't need to ask Alexa daily to do certain works. As Alexa is built in the cloud, it is getting smarter every day.

The device can stream music over Wi-Fi over mobile hotspot from Amazon Prime Music, Apple Music, JioSaavan, Hungama music or Gaana. The device can also be paired to the phone via Bluetooth. One needs just to give voice commands, and the music will be played right there without any delay.

The portable smart speaker comes with a warranty of one year with subjects to the terms of use. Currently, Amazon has announced the launch only in India, and there is no information on its launch outside India. Presently it's an exclusive, and with the range of third party Alexa-equipped speakers now available in western markets, it would have stiff competition.

The official date of launch is 18 December, and the pre-launch price has been fixed at Rs. 4,999 (around £54/$69).
