AMD Launches New Processor Expanding Data Center Solutions

FREMONT, CA: AMD launches New Opteron A1100 System-on-chip (SoC) processors, targeting organizations that mainstream ARM for data center workloads. The latest solution offers scale-out performance, energy efficiency and reduces total cost of ownership.

The AMD Opteron A1100 Series SoC is a 64-bit Advanced RISC Machine (RISC) Cortex-A57-based platform that offers choice and scalable performance in servers, embedded networking and storage applications. The series offers a balanced total cost of ownership for storage, web and networking workloads with its ARM Cortex-A57 processors that provide high-speed network and storage connectivity, and energy efficiency.

The AMD Opteron A1100 SoC processors enable service providers to simplify infrastructure deployment and management through Network Functions Virtualization (NFV), and eliminate the dependency on customized software stacks.

The ARM based solution provides up to eight high-performance Cortex-A57 cores with 4MB shared Level 2 cache and 8MB Level 3 cache with full cache coherency. AMD Opteron A1100 SoC offers flexible and high performance memory with two64-bit DDR3 or DDR4 memory channels with Error Correction Code (ECC) and supports up to 128GB total system memory.

The solution comprises of two 10Gigabit Ethernet , fourteen SATA 3 ports with a data transfer rate of 6Gb/s and 8 lane PCI Express Gen 3. The hardware is supported by a comprehensive, open software stack spanning OS, virtualization, database and programming languages.

The collaboration of AMD with ARM builds an ecosystem that is conducible for the introduction of new technologies such as 64-bit processors in the data center environment, thereby reducing the cost and risk associated.

AMD is collaborating with ARM to develop a broader ecosystem for Data Center environments, helping reduce the cost and risk of introducing new technologies such as 64-bit ARM processors. A broad ecosystem coupled with choice encourages accelerated time to utilization.

The AMD Opteron A1100 SoC powers enterprise-class systems from SoftIron with its Overdrive 3000 systems for developers and software-defined storage solutions.

AMD’s collaboration with Silver Lining Systems (SLS) integrates SLS’ fabric technology in dense server design featuring the Opteron A1100 Series that aims at streaming, web and storage workloads of cloud and hyperscale data centers.

Deploying Big Data Analysis to Develop IoT Solutions

Data from various sources forms the basic foundation of businesses. In the present times, the improvement of connectivity in the IoT space has resulted in the transfer of huge chunks of data.
