Ambitious and mature players in the ASEAN retail market require objective, robust performance information in order to steer and support growth, and so the team at RetailX.net have been researching online and multichannel retailers in order to create the first performance-based view of the region. Readers will receive deep-dive analysis into the strategies of these retailers and insight into what makes them successful, as well as a comprehensive ranking.
The InternetRetailing ASEAN 500 report is based upon research conducted into a retailer’s ‘footprint’ (that assesses the impact of a retailer across online, stores, ecommerce mix, financial results and share of voice) - and this gives a ranking of retailers’ prominence and important in the consumer’s minds. Thereafter InternetRetailing have assessed each ranked retailer in six Performance Dimensions, researching their marketing, social, mobile, operational, merchandising and strategic activities, and creating additional rankings in each area. The final combined result is an assessment of their capabilities as a retailer and is one of the most well-earned prizes in the sector.
Martin Shaw, Head of Research at InternetRetailing said of the report: “We’re excited to be focussing on Southeast Asia, a region that is seeing enormous year-on-year ecommerce growth. International brands are pouring into the region and, concurrently, local retailers are taking advantage of this growth to expand beyond their local markets and spread throughout the region aided by relatively friendly intra-ASEAN trade agreements. Which retailers are successfully operating and how many are truly pan-regional? What can we learn from them? The ASEAN Top500 report will reveal our preliminary findings and form the foundation of our deeper research into all aspects of retail performance.” Martin will be unveiling the report as part of InternetRetailing Expo ASEAN, happening in Bangkok,Thailand 14-16th September.
