SINGAPORE: ATEME, a telecommunications services provider, announces it is providing Arcana, a provider of broadcast media services and solutions, with a complete video headend in a box to help deploy its DTH service.
The video headend enables to power 8 serial digital interfaces (SDI) and 5 IP channels in MPEG-2 and H.264 video formats. The video headend uses ATEME pure-software solutions such as TITAN Live, TITAN Mux and StatMux to deliver encoding, multiplexing and statistical multiplexing functions.
ATEME’s TITAN is a virtualized software-based solution designed for cable, DTH, DTT and OTT. Leveraging ATEME’s “building block” approach, it enables complete flexibility as it allowssoftware modules to be combined as needed i.e. to any input/output, any CODEC, any resolution– from an encoder to a video headend in a box. The ATEME Video Headend in a Box fits into 1 RU, hence supplying a high-density solution to Arcana.
TITAN can run on any commercially available server, on any environment thus eliminating all infrastructure constraints.
“As part of our transition to the all IP COTS-server based headend, we were looking for a software solution with high video quality to support premium content, and high density,” says Immad Iftikhar, director technical & operations at Arcana Media Group. “ATEME TITAN enables us to meet our CAPEX and OPEX targets, without compromising video quality.”
“Combined with our global experience in technical deployments, TITAN interoperability with third-parties products and solutions led to a smooth and seamless integration with Arcana eco-system, reducing both time-to-market and OPEX. Furthermore, this solution is available on a pay-as-you-grow basis, making it easy to add functionality and increase density via a simple software licence,” says Emmanuel Boureau, VP sales at ATEME.
