FREMONT, CA: Box, a provider of enterprise software solutions for content collaboration, announces Box KeySafe, a solution for customer managed encryption with company-independent key control. Box KeySafe provides organizations with independent control over their encryption keys without needing to compensate the ease of use of box or any of its featured collaborations.
Box KeySafe increases the levels of productivity and enables faster business processes with the following features such as Independent Key Control, Unchangeable usage policies and audit logs and frictionless end-user experience. The Independent key control feature enables the user to restrict box’s access to the customer’s encryption keys. The usage policy feature enables the user to maintain the unchangeable usage policies and audit logs - Customers maintain exclusive control over key policies and usage logs to ensure proper access to encrypted data. The solution assures frictionless end-user experience with simple data access across devices, file preview, content management and the hallmark collaboration of Box.
The collaboration between Box and Amazon Web Services (AWS) offers Box KeySafe in two variances: Box KeySafe with AWS CloudHSM and Box KeySafe with AWS Key Management Service.
Box KeySafe with AWS CloudHSM: this service is the original Box Enterprise Key Management (EKM) which leverages a dedicated hardware security module (HSM) to store and protect a customer’s encryption keys.
Box KeySafe with AWS Key Management Service: This service allows customers to control their encryption keys through a simple, software-based technology that doesn't require the cost or complexity of managing a dedicated HSM.
Box provides comprehensive data protection, reporting and audit policies, compliance certifications, and a partner network that includes many of the most trusted security vendors in the market.
“Businesses of every size across even the most regulated of industries can now take full control of their data in the cloud with Box KeySafe,” says Aaron Levie, co-founder and CEO of Box. “Today, we’re making customer-managed encryption easier to deploy and more cost-effective than ever before, further raising the bar for security in the cloud.”
