Construction Industry Is Embracing AI-Led Innovation

Apac CIO Outlook | Thursday, January 01, 1970
    Tweet

Artificial Intelligence is proving to be a helping hand for the economic sectors, and with the advancement in these technologies, they are offering efficiencies and information at the same time. As the construction sector develops, the introduction of AI has forced organizations to experiment with the designs of the buildings and how they are built. Artificial Intelligence gathers and organizes information for engineers which is required for project planning and design implementation.

AI is offering its services to the construction industry in four major categories:

    • AI planning

Planning is the most significant aspect of any project, and the role of AI starts from here. As it is autonomous equipment, it is aware of its surroundings and is capable of navigation without manual aid. In this first stage of planning, AI machinery can survey the proposed construction site and collect ample data to create blueprints, construction maps, and 3D maps.

    • Project management

AI has simplified this process by fully controlling and managing a project. For instance, workers can input leaves, sick days, vacancies, and sudden departures into a data system and it will adapt to the changes accordingly; and will then move this task to another employee.

    • Project

AI is good at communicating with engineers and help them in directing how to carry out specific projects and improve their performance. For instance, if engineers are working on a new building or a bridge, AI can assist them in telling how the bridge should be constructed. This process is carried out by going through the past projects over the last 50 years, and also verifying the blueprints for that particular design.

Construction sites were usually considered risky but with the advent of these new technologies workers can stay outside the vehicle, while using sensors and global positioning system(GPS), these vehicles can find the safest route.

    • Post-construction

Once the building is constructed, whether for a commercial purpose or a residential purpose, AI can be used inside both the structures. Organizations are coming forward to capitalize on the ever-growing market.

•Information is vital- BIM and VA

All the buildings must ensure that they have informative and historical information regarding their constructions. Building Information Modeling (BIM) can be used to gather all this information for future reference.

A conversation is an essential element; organizations can combine virtual assistants alongside Near-filed Communication (NFC), as the former can give real-time information from various sensors in the building. As AI will be used more in the field of construction tech, time will tell whether it’s a reliable technology or not to construct innovative and safe buildings.
