FREMONT, CA: Cryptsoft has strengthened their position as the preferred Key Management Interoperability Protocol (KMIP) vendor for the smart metering industry by licensing their KMIP Client technology for use in Networked Energy Services' Advanced Metering Infrastructure products.
NES's award-winning Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) smart grid technology has built a market-leading position, thanks in part to an emphasis on interoperable open standards, operator flexibility, and high security.Attuned to the emerging, but rapidly growing, demand from Distribution System Operators (DSOs) for improved, tightly integrated, yet interoperable security solutions, NES constantly reviews its security architecture as part of a process of continuous assessment against current as well as anticipated cyber-security threats.Recognizing that the most recent security architecture necessitates a bigger number of security keys, NES enlisted Cryptsoft to implement KMIP key management technology into their metering system.
Ongoing discussions confirmed that Cryptsoft, with its emphasis on open standards-based key management technologies such as KMIP and PKCS#11, and NES, with its emphasis on the Open Smart Grid Protocol (OSGP), were both committed to the technological as well as commercial benefits of solutions built with interoperable open standards. The Cryptsoft-NES collaboration's mutual goal is to bring innovative solutions to the utilities sector with leading security capability and deployment flexibility, while also decreasing the cost and complexity load for Distribution System Operators (DSO).
