HANGZHOU, CHINA: China Unicom, a provider of enterprise telecom solutions, deploys Huawei’s Transport-Software-defined Network (T-SDN) project on Hangzhou metro transport network. The deployment provides Bandwidth on Demand (BoD) leased lines for government and enterprises, improving customer experience.
The announcement is a part of China Unicom’s Cloud-oriented Ubiquitous-Broadband Elastic Network (CUBE Net 2.0) strategy that relies on ultra-broadband networks and data centers to implement cloud-and-network synergy, on-demand adjustment, and high network flexibility, thereby, achieving Network as a Service (NaaS). The introduction of SDN technology to transport networks addresses group customers service requirements such as rapid deployment of new services and on-demand provisioning, and adjustment of bandwidths, and improves customer experience.
The solution includes Huawei’s Multiple-service Optical Transport Network (MS-OTN) solution to construct metro transport networks in line with a simplified network concept. The MS-OTN implements unified cross-connect and grooming for multiple services, and carries all large bandwidth services that meet the future requirements of network development.
Huawei’s T-SDN BoD leased line solution uses SDN controllers that manage network-wide resources globally. The solution offers standard northbound Application Program Interface (API) through network orchestration to achieve network programmability. Huawei T-SDN enables group customers to handle leased-line services with a self-service terminal such as a tablet and monitor-leased line performance anytime and anywhere, therby facilitating on-demand bandwidth subscription and rapid service deployment with improved customer service.
“Huawei uses T-SDN to simplify network architecture and build flattened and automated agile networks and continuously provides the optimal T-SDN solution for carriers, helping Carrier network transformation,” says Zha Jun, President of Huawei’s fixed Network BU.
