Elemental Enables South Korean Service Providers to Deliver 4K UHD Services

FREMONT, CA: Elemental Technologies, a provider of video processing solutions, is offering a the technology platform for suite of 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) over-the-top (OTT) and direct-to-home (DTH) services in South Korea. The new services are built on Elemental software-defined video solutions.
Two South Korean service providers, KT and SK Broadband, are leveraging Elemental high-efficiency video coding (HEVC) software to deliver the new UHD services.
According to a research article by GFK, Asia is reported to be one of the world’s fastest growing UHDmarkets. The article also reported Korea as the largest UHD TV market share by region.
Both KT and SK are providers of telecommunication services and solutions, offer 4K UHD services in a bid to provide better quality of services to their customers and grow more subscribers to their customer base.
The 4K UHD services were first provided to both the service providers leveraging Elemental Live and Elemental Server video processing technology previously, and are now being extended to meet KT and SK’s expanding needs and requirements.
