By optimizing evidence-based innovation, mission-based ecosystem collaboration and agile regulation can play a vital role in combating diseases and improving health outcomes.

FREMONT, CA: COVID-19 pandemic has affected healthcare in the APAC region to an unusual moment as it has laid out health system vulnerabilities and amplified health inequalities. It is also illustrated how a shared common purpose and sense of urgency have urged fast-tracking of regulation, the evolution towards sustainability, and unprecedented innovation. There also lies a concern that the region could lose this innovation momentum when the pandemic abates.

The Healthcare sector is still struggling to cope with the dual challenges of fallout from delayed treatments, missed diagnoses, and pressure to do more with scarce tools while facing increment in patient populations and increasing non-communicable disease burden. The COVID'19 has exposed the current hospital-centered care model to be inefficient. The future of patient-centered care demands the integration of virtual care and data-enabled solutions across the continuum of care to personalized care delivery from precision prevention.

APAC's healthcare systems, between countries and within countries, are highly complicated with huge disparities in access, coverage, and quality. Sometimes, regulation is fragmented and fails to manage with emerging technologies that create challenges to rising needed tech-led solutions and limit the outcome it can generate from data-driven decision-making to tackling inequality.

As the world is restructuring public health, APAC has a great chance to ensure that the future is brighter for everyone, irrespectively, by sharply advancing broad-based health. The key to achieving long-term resilience is customized healthcare and transitioning from a one-size-fits-all approach by adopting innovation and decision-making based on real-world evidence and data. There is a requirement for strong collaboration across the ecosystem and responsive regulatory frameworks to support this rapidly changing environment for digital healthcare and data technologies. By offering the tools and tangible recommendations, the Asia-Pacific Personalized Health Index can boost assistance by helping policymakers address challenges and implement resilient, future-proof health systems.
