FREMONT, CA: EMC Corporation unveils next-gen EMC Isilon Scale-out NAS Data Lake with new features and capabilities enabling enterprises to scale edge locations and public clouds. The product line includes IsilonSD Edge, the next-gen IsilonFS and Isilon CloudPools that enhances Data Lake by allowing unstructured data to be available at data center edge locations such as remote offices and archived in the cloud.
EMC addresses the enterprise challenges faced in managing unstructured data. The new solutions support EMC’s Data Lake 2.0 strategy and are crafted to offer more effective Data Lake. They are capable of combining multiple workloads and offer users to access and analyze data from all locations.
EMC IsilonSD Edge
The EMC IsilonSD Edge is a software-defined cost efficient solution designed to simplify data management in remote offices and edge locations. It is capable of running on commodity hardware. The solution supports VMware ESX and can be integrated with VMware vCenter for easy management. It also supports OneFS’s data services and protocols while scaling up to 36TB.
Next-gen Isilon OneFS OS
The new next-gen EMC Isilon OneFS Operating System optimizes data storage at the core of the Data Lake. It is devised to improve resiliency, ease management and provide continuous operations for massive Data Lakes. The new enhancement, full Non-Disruptive Upgrade (NDU) support now works across major code families enhancing the resiliency of the Data Lake. The solution also features flexible upgrade rollback capabilities allowing users to restore their application to a pre-upgrade state as required and ensure better UX and continued uptime in critical environments.
Isilon CloudPools
The latest EMC Isilon CloudPools broaden unstructured data storage to public, private and hybrid clouds. It enables Isilon to tier data natively to public cloud including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Virtustream with requiring a cloud gateway. CloudPools enable data center expansion to EMC Elastic Cloud Storage and Isilon as a private cloud. Isilon extends its core namespace to the cloud to provide access to data irrespective of the location.
“The rapid growth of unstructured data in the data center core and at the enterprise edge is challenging organizations to both manage data growth and find new ways to tap highly distributed data stores for business intelligence and value,” says CJ Desai, President Emerging Technologies Division, EMC. “At the same time, the pressure is still on to keep costs down. This trio of new EMC Isilon solutions is designed to optimize every part of the data center, provide a seamless user experience and create new economics as customers continue to wrangle mountains of data and evolve their Big Data strategies.”
