TOKYO, JAPAN: Fujitsu announces the availability of "Online Biometric Authentication Service" to implement First IDentity Online (FIDO) compliant service into its client-side applications.
FIDO
FIDO is biometric authentication service that mitigates the need of IDs or passwords for both safety and convenience. Customers can deploy the FIDO-compatible device to do things such as log in or make payments authenticated by the biometric information stored on their device. The enterprise units have to add “support for FIDO” in their server to start online service for their customers. FIDO further attenuates their data storage risks by diminishing the need to manage biometric information of the users on their own servers.
Fujitsu will incorporate companies with all the latest server and necessary software required for starting FIDO, build cloud environments, and start services to continuously develop client applications. They will further offer software development kit to include FIDO for online services installed on users' biometric authentication devices.
Customers can leverage the new product for embarking personal authentication systems for various daily-life situations such as online banking and shopping, ticket arrangements, and car sharing. The new offering comes with advanced security features and abates the burden of starting a new service. Fujitsu further expands the customer base by incorporating FIDO with facial recognition feature obtained through camera-equipped smart phones and other biometrics.
