Integrating game mechanics and features in processes and promotion of a website, an app or a page are called Gamification. In today’s online market, where the users have a short attention span and multiple websites to choose from, it becomes extremely important for a business to implement innovative ideas.

Gamification can help in maintaining the existing customer base as well as increasing it. It has proved to be a game changer for large and small businesses in boosting their customer base.

Almost all successful companies that have an online presence, uses Gamification strategy to maintain and enhance their customer base by providing rewards and merits for loyalty. Samsung Nation is a community where companies can earn badges and level up by visiting their site and reviewing the products Samsung has to offer.

This has helped Samsung in maintaining their existing customer base and enhancing it at the same time. Another example of Gamification is the rank of a student based on his grade point average (GPA), which can be compared to scores in a video game.

Mechanics to Boost Customer Engagement   :

Rewards Cards: Giving out rewards to the existing customers can help in engaging them with the app or website on a regular basis.

Polls: Running polls on the app regarding any product can help in understanding a customer’s interest towards a product. It can also help the company to understand any required changes in the product.

Badges:  providing badges on accomplishing any mission or goals will help in engaging the customers.

Competition: providing a time-based competition with leaderboards and teams will help in attracting customer’s attention on a regular basis.

Flash Sales:  Sudden unannounced sales will also keep a loyal customer engrossed with the app.

Social Media: Social Media has become an important tool to advertise. If a user shares his rewards and badges on the social media platforms, then it can help in advertising and creating a new customer base.

    Advantages:

Gamification can be the best marketing strategy. It can help an organization in making a loyal customer base. It uses a person’s instinct to socialize, compete and achieve. If used properly Gamification can prove to be a game changer for an organization.
