Hanoi Telecom Expands Network in Vietnam, Leverages Infinera's Intelligent Transport Networks

    By apacciooutlook | Monday, August 03, 2020

SUNNYVALE, CA:  Infinera, a provider of telecommunications services and solutions, announces that Hanoi Telecom Corporation (HTC), a wireless telecom operator, chose Infinera Intelligent Transport Networks to expand its optical network in Vietnam.

HTC expanded its existing Infinera TM-Series metro network together with the DTN-X Family for its backbone to connect Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau.

HTC is a wireless telecom operator in Vietnam that provides wireless, broadband and VoIP services. HTC offers wireless services to more than 13 million subscribers. Selecting Infinera’s TM-Series metro packet-optical platform and DTN-X family via Infinera’s local partner – Nissho Electronics Vietnam, HTC has accomplished a unified metro and backbone network that includes a common network management system for rapid service delivery in the region.

Leveraging Infinera’s technology HTC is the first network to deploy 500 gigabits per second (Gbps) super-channels in Vietnam. Infinera’s unique Instant Bandwidth enables optical capacity to be software-activated in 100 Gb/s increments by a simple click.

The Infinera DTN-X XTC Series enables HTC to deliver 500 Gb/s super-channels and support to provide multi-terabit super-channels in the future. It also features photonic integrated circuits (PICs) and integrates wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) super-channel transmission with up to 12 Tb/s of optical transport network (OTN). The DTN-X XTC Series also integrates packet switching for sub-wavelength service management that provides seamless expansion as traffic needs grow in the future.

“We intend to advance the deployment of high bandwidth solutions to our customers in the Vietnam market by using the DTN-X XTC Series based on the innovative PIC technology,” says Madam Trinh Minh Chau, Chairwoman and CEO of Hanoi Telecom. “Infinera’s Instant Bandwidth allows us to differentiate our services through pre-deployed capacity which can be delivered on-demand via software defined activation. In addition, Infinera’s platforms have demonstrated the type of reliability and quality we are looking for in our network.”
