TOKYO: Hitachi, a provider of electrical and electronic manufacturing services and solutions, announces the formation of Hitachi Insight group. The Hitachi Insight group aims to drive Hitachi’s Internet of Things (IoT) and Go-to-market (GTM) strategy globally.
IoT is driving the convergence of the digital and physical world, providing both opportunities and challenges for industries, businesses and governments. Hitachi aims to provide its expertise in the fields of operational technology (OT) and advanced information technologies (IT), to enable users extract actionable insights from IoT and fully take advantage of the benefits of digitalization. According to a report by IDC, the global IoT market is estimated to reach $ 1.46 trillion by 2020.
Hitachi’s IoT portfolio of services and solutions include public safety and smart cities, renewable and sustainable energy, intelligent transportation, precision agriculture and manufacturing, water treatment and urban development, construction and mining. The digital services provided by Hitachi provide actionable insights to support better business decision-making and tangible outcomes such as improved productivity and safety, streamlined business processes, lower costs, reduced carbon footprint, and improved quality of life.
The Hitachi Insight group aims to perform research and development, and form GTM strategies for Hitachi's IoT-optimized solutions and services in four key segments: Smart City, Smart Energy, Smart Healthcare and Smart Industry. Hitachi's global IoT-core team consists of 16,000 employees from Hitachi Insight Group and various divisions across Hitachi Ltd. and its Group companies.
Hitachi has also established global Centers for Social Innovation in various regions which include cross-disciplinary researchers, data scientists and solution architects to work with customers on solution development to solve unique challenges. These labs will work with the Hitachi Insight Group to provide solutions to real world challenges in areas such as energy & natural resources, transportation, telecommunications, and healthcare.
The formation of Hitachi Insight Group is part of Hitachi's corporate strategy and initiative to move its business toward a market-in approach. Hitachi includes collaborations with companies like AT&T, Eurotech, Intel, Microsoft, PTC and SAP and has 33 solutions in the current market.
