How Freelancers can Benefit from Using a VPN

By Apac CIO Outlook | Wednesday, April 29, 2020

VPN helps in browsing content easier since big websites use geo-restrictions to control who is viewing what content and where

FREMONT, CA: Freelancers enjoy the benefit of working anywhere, anytime with just a decent laptop and a steady internet connection, and the use of VPN could add to their advantage as well. Apart from privacy protections, it can also help one work smarter and even save money.

Here are three ways how freelancers can benefit from using a VPN:

    Work Anywhere

Although freelancers can work anywhere, a client's company might not. In any case, if the employer is using a geo-protected CRM or CMS, they will not be able to access it, especially if they are abroad. With the help of a VPN, setting the browsing location to match the client will enable them to access the CRM or CMS and work at ease. It also helps in browsing content easier since big websites use geo-restrictions as well to control who is viewing what content and from where.

    Security

Most freelancers do their work on a public Wi-Fi, and while this is convenient, it is not the safest connection. When connecting to the Wi-Fi, if it connects to the same unsecured router as a hacker, they are vulnerable and prone to attacks, and their client is also at risk, especially if the work included sensitive information while the hacker was peeking. A VPN could help add an extra layer of protection to keep hackers away.

    Cost-Effective

Freelancers can practically work from anywhere, and this could mean internationally as well; however, international flights aren't cheap. By opening a new browsing session on the VPN and changing the server location to the destination they're traveling to, it can avoid all the cookie airline websites use to track passengers and hike prices, and thus getting more reasonable ticket options.
