FREMONT, CA: IBM unveils the IBM z13s mainframe system, capable with advanced security technologies and hybrid cloud capabilities made suitable for mid-size enterprises.
The z13s mainframe also provides support for fast encryption and decryption. The z13s mainframes feature:
Hybrid Cloud Data Security
The z13s Mainframe from IBM is designed to enable businesses to move into hybrid cloud safely and securely.
According to IDC, 80% of enterprise IT organizations will commit to hybrid cloud architectures by 2017. Mobile and cloud services provide companies with increased speed and flexibility but with the growing number of networks, the number of cyber threats also increase. According to the National Security Agency, threats not only include data theft and losses but comprise the accuracy and reliability of digital information.
Double the Encryption Speed
The new z13s mainframe is designed to protect data securely by utilizing its updated cryptographic capabilities. The z13s canhandle twice as many transactions as before and encrypt them at twice as much the speed as that of other comparable systems.
The mainframe also supports IBM's Cyber Security Analytics services which provide further protection of data by learning users’ behavior to identify attacks and improve threat monitoring. According to IBM, Cyber Security Analytics services can identify network activity that appears anomalous compared to more typical user behavior.
The users of IBM’s z series of mainframe systems will also be able to access additional security applications through IBM’s recent "Ready for IBM Security Intelligence" partners. They include network cybersecurity by BlackRidge Technology, Trusted Thin Client for endpoint security by Forcepoint and the mainframe enterprise consultancy RSM Partners which will provide software for security administration.
IBM says the z13s represents "the new entry point to the z Systems portfolio for enterprises of all sizes." The z Systems line combines hosted applications Relevant Products/Services and mainframes for businesses seeking cloud services, mobility offerings and big data Relevant Products/Services analytics, according to Big Blue.
"With the new IBM z13s, clients no longer have to choose between security and performance," says IBM Systems, senior vice president, Tom Rosamilia. He also added that the mainframe's security and analytics capabilities are aimed at helping midsize companies "grow their organization with peace of mind."
