A key to building a great brand image lies in post-sales service. If a business offers field services, then it has to invest heavily in training its workforce to deliver the services quickly. As probability for errors is enormous in delivering the field service due to the human element, enterprises have been exploring new means to deliver the services.

Internet of Things (IoT) has come to be a silver lining in field services. Though the idea of deploying IoT enabled equipment is new, the benefits of realizing it are numerous. As the equipment is IoT enabled, they can relay the current and correct data about their condition. Businesses can easily monitor the functioning of these devices and create a contingency plan to mitigate the failure. They can also take the proactive approach to ensure the service continuity and dispatch the maintenance personnel to undertake the repair work.

Electrical utilities, one of the industries that inevitably rely on field service for being operational, have started deploying IoT-enabled devices. The results are remarkable in terms of pace of solving on-field problems. As these electrical utilities can harness data from the on-field IoT-enabled devices, they can formulate contingency plans in case of equipment failure. Also, knowing the state of equipment is an additional benefit.

Other utilities and businesses that undertake field service can take cues from electrical utilities and ponder over the benefits of deploying IoT-enabled equipment. They can have a predictive analysis of on-field equipment and formulate strategies to avoid probable glitches. Last but not least accelerating service delivery is another advantage.
