Fremont, CA: Robotic-assisted surgery is a type of laparoscopic surgery that is more advanced than traditional laparoscopic surgery. It enables a surgeon to perform any complex surgical procedure with greater precision, control, and flexibility than traditional surgical procedures. Surgeons utilize computer-controlled and self-powered robots to help them during surgery, particularly when manipulating and positioning surgical instruments. Robotic surgery is less painful and leads to less scarring than open surgery.

    How Does Robot-Assisted Surgery Work?

The da Vinci surgical system, a combination of computer, machinery, and electronics that offers surgeons an intuitive tool for controlling surgical instruments is used for robotic-assisted surgery. During the procedure, general anaesthesia is used. In the operating room, the surgeon works from a computer console. They are in charge of numerous precision-guided robotic arms that hold and manipulate miniature instruments in order to make small incisions in the patient.

A small video camera attached to a robotic arm offers a magnified view of the operating site to the surgeon. Through the computer console, the surgeon's hand, finger, and wrist movements are transmitted to the surgical instruments attached to the robot's arms. Because the robotic arms can rotate 360 degrees, the surgical instruments can be moved with greater control, precision, as well as flexibility than in traditional laparoscopic surgeries. Throughout the procedure, the surgery team keeps an eye on the robot.

Is Robotic Surgery a Safe Option?

Both patients and surgeons are thought to be safe when undergoing robotic surgery. It is also extremely beneficial:

    • For performing urologic, prostate removal, gynaecologic, and head and neck surgeries in small areas.
    • When open surgeries can be challenging for patients
    • For those who do not wish to suffer from pain, blood loss, or discomfort.
