HSINCHU, TW: MediaTek, a semiconductor company, announces LinkIt Development platform and its hardware development kit (HDK) for real time operation (RTOS). This platform will offer developers to create connected appliances, home and office automation devices, smart gadgets, and IoT bridges.
LinkIt will deliver APIs for multiple chipsets offering developers the ability to create a range of IoT devices using one common software development kit.
Key features of LinkIt are Free RTOS with additional components covering TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, HTTP (client and server), SNTP, DHCP daemon, MQTT, XML and JSON. SDK support development at the command line or with Keil μVision, also includes flashing and pinmux tools. It is based on ARM Cortex-M4 architecture, offers high performance IEEE 802.11 b/g/n compliant Wi-Fi. It houses peripheral interface supportand advanced Flash and security features. Development boards with power consumption measurement and debug socket. OEM modules for device manufacture.
The LinkIt 7687 HDK is developed by Silicon Application Corp. (SAC), using hardware board reference design from MediaTek. The HDK provides a low-cost, easy-to-use IoT development board for the design, prototyping, evaluation and implementation of commercial IoT projects. Within platform the board features MediaTek LinkIt SDK v3.0 tools, middleware, drivers, documentation and example projects user need to create device firmware. LinkIt 7687 HDK offers a development board for prototyping and module that can be incorporated into production devices. One have the access to comprehensive documentation and training covering first steps, with get started guides, through to detailed API references supported by tutorials and example code, technical support from the Labs Technical Consultants and fellow community member in software and hardware orientated forums.
"Professional developers continue to be catalysts for turning IoT ideas into actual products. MediaTek Labs is committed to delivering the best hardware and software development platforms, as well as technical and business matchmaking support, for these developers to quickly get to market," says Marc Naddell, Vice President of MediaTek Labs. "The MediaTek LinkIt Development Platform for RTOS opens the door for developers to build a full range of IoT devices that are power efficient with secure Wi-Fi connectivity and commercially viable."
