Microsoft Join Hands with Laos Government to Boost Skills and Employability of Students

FREMONT, CA: Microsoft Asia signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ministry of Education and Sports of Laos to support the development of 21st century skills and employability of students.
The Education Transformation Agreement is for a period of three years, and the partnership will explore ways to improve access to and use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in schools. It supports teaching and learning, and also facilitates international collaboration to improve education sector.
“Technology plays an important role in providing access to new learning experiences, improving pedagogical practices and empowering educators, especially in this mobile-first, cloud-first world,” says Michelle Simmons, GM, Southeast Asia New Markets, Microsoft Asia Pacific. “Integrating technology in the education experience will help equip students with skills for modern, global workforce and future workplace.”
The partnership Engages policymakers, educators and students, and focuses on five broad areas that include ICT Policy Workshop, Microsoft Innovative Educator, Microsoft Technology Enhanced Instruction, Microsoft IT Academy, and Microsoft Certification Programs.

ICT Policy Workshop
The ICT Policy Workshop is a two-day policy workshop covering education’s stakeholders including policymakers, development partners, ICT private sector and civil society. The workshop offers a platform for high-level dialogue and knowledge sharing to harness the potential of ICT into teaching and learning.
Microsoft Innovative Educator
The Microsoft Innovative Educator program aims to enhance teaching and learning experience via the innovative use of technology. The program includes assessment tools and curriculum to raise the capabilities and competencies of educators.
Microsoft Technology Enhanced Instruction
The Microsoft Technology Enhanced Instruction initiative will support school faculties to prepare the students to utilize technologies effectively and Microsoft will work with educators to better harness the potential of technology in teaching process.
Microsoft IT Academy
The Microsoft IT Academy provides full curriculum solutions to institutions, delivering technology courses, learning tools and other educator resources.
Microsoft Certification Programs
With the globally recognized Microsoft Certification Programs, schools can incorporate industry credentials and implement technical skill validation to match technology education programs with industry requirements and employer demand.
