Commercial IoT launches in the APAC region are numerous and consistent with Mobile IoT connecting equipment, business processes, as well as systems alike, empowering organizations to create and expand intelligent value chains that encompass the entire product lifecycle and also address a multinational customer base.

Fremont, CA: Rapid urbanization and increasing millennial population across Asia have led to a high rate of mobile and internet usage in many countries in this region. Thereby, Mobile IoT is having its moments across Asia-Pacific (APAC). This proliferation has already been predicted by PwC and the GSMA that, by 2020, this continent would become the world’s most connected region. It is already evident that the APAC region continues to be the world’s fastest-growing region in licensed low power wide area (LPWA) connections.

Commercial IoT launches in the APAC region are numerous and consistent with Mobile IoT connecting equipment, business processes, as well as systems alike, empowering organizations to create and expand intelligent value chains that encompass the entire product lifecycle and also address a multinational customer base.

For instance, KDDI became one of the first operators in Japan to make an LTE-M network commercially accessible and also declared that they are joining hands with TOKYOKEIKI in order to build a new platform for the delivery of smart utility infrastructure. This also includes the development of intelligent gas meters as well as services.

Smart utilities are among the highly-anticipated gains from the advent of Mobile IoT. The manually checking of utility meters is both cost and time-consuming process as theses meters are often placed in remote and difficult-to-reach locations. However, gradually the manually checking will be removed and thew inaccuracy of usage estimations alike.

Increased collaboration across continents – and also in Asia – is a key factor playing a pivotal role in the ongoing proliferation of Mobile IoT deployments in this region. For instance, the end of February, Sercomm declared plans to utilize the infrastructure as well as expertise of Orange to provide a new series of Mobile IoT devices across Taiwan. By utilizing Orange’s completely deployed LTE-M network, Sercomm plans to provide a variety of solutions for application in asset protection, transport and environmental monitoring.
