Employees often mistakenly download malicious attachments on their computers. These affected computers then infect other computers in the same network.

Fremont, CA: The US economy is expected to boom in the coming years. With new startups opening every day, technology is striving to keep up the pace. However, businesses’ technology dependency has made them vulnerable to cybercrime, which is only increasing with time. Hence, it is mandatory for businesses to bolster their cybersecurity.

Let us look at some essential cybersecurity practices:

    Training Employees is Paramount

Surveys show that most data breaches happen due to employees’ lack of knowledge about cybersecurity. They are unaware of basic threats like phishing emails and keyloggers. Attackers can target employees using phishing attacks. Employees often mistakenly download malicious attachments on their computers. This affected computers then infect other computers in the same network. Thus, the entire network would get bugged. This undesirable situation can be avoided by training employees on basic cybersecurity practices.

    Update Software

Keeping all software up-to-date is another step to avoid cyber attacks. Most companies do not take the time out to update their software until they face problems. Every software vendor would launch security patches for its products. These security patches would ensure that they can not take advantage of known weaknesses. If companies do not update their tools, attackers can utilize their vulnerabilities.

    Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

MFA is very crucial for modern businesses. Most employees do not think hard while creating a new password. Mostly, they use weak passwords that they can remember easily. If your employees are utilizing weak passwords, the attackers can easily hack their accounts. They can utilize brute force attacks for hacking into employees’ accounts. However, using multi-factor authentication would help protect their accounts. It would ensure the protection of employee accounts. Companies can add more security by adding elements like OTP and PIN. Many companies are also utilizing software certifications and fingerprint scans.
