Need for merging DevOps and release management

By Apac CIO Outlook | Monday, January 14, 2019
    Tweet

Application delivery is one of the hurdles facing by the organizations. Disparate teams within an organization cannot work on the same production. This differentiation can be wiped off by a unified goal that binds the teams together, which is the directive to go faster and deliver software quickly. DevOps enables organizations to be productive by maintaining a greater speed. Organizations should adopt agile technologies to increase operational efficiency.

Delivery release management’s function is to deliver the entire product including its hardware, software, applications, and infrastructure configurations. Technical release managers aim to build application assets as code, application configurations, and database structure. Multi-delivery planning includes business alignment and risk mitigation. Release management ensures test teams are ready, infrastructure components are equipped, and operations are integrated.

Defining place for ERM: An automated approach provides the tools to handle a function that goes into processes. The goal of the organizations is to coordinate well to maximize what goes to the production and increase the investment on the regulatory tax. Automation ensures the teams and resources are available, and release manager oversees the operation, implementation, and improvement.

Organizations’ DevOps should embrace the automation that needs Enterprise Resource Management. This is the process of combining tools to facilitate the automation of DevOps and enabling the team to have insights into each of the delivery pipelines. The insights should be evaluated and implemented into the teams’ toolchain with having a goal of going faster.

There is a place of ERM in the DevOps teams, which serves the goal to the organizations of deployment through automation. And release management should be a priority at the time of streamlining operations in the organizations.
