Metcash is undertaking a strategic supply chain transformation initiative with the tech giant’s recently announced Microsoft Supply Chain Platform.
FREMONT, CA: The recently unveiled Microsoft Supply Chain Platform is being used by Metcash as part of a significant supply chain transformation project. As part of the programme, Metcash will leverage Microsoft Supply Chain Center's sophisticated order management features and Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management as its primary Enterprise Resource Planning system to facilitate more effective order orchestration and fulfilment.
One of the top wholesale distribution and marketing firms in Australia and New Zealand is Metcash. As part of its multi-year digital transformation, the company will use the new Microsoft Supply Chain Platform thanks to the agreement.
The Microsoft Supply Chain Platform, which is supported by Microsoft Dynamics 365, unifies data throughout an enterprise's supply chain data estate without the requirement for point solutions, new ERP systems, or investments in supply chain management.
Recent international occurrences have emphasised the value of supply chain resilience. According to the Vice President of Supply Chain Business Applications at Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), businesses must have a modern data strategy that provides increased visibility, agility, and connectivity across their supply chain systems and processes.
The platform's Supply Chain Center also proactively enables businesses to anticipate and reduce supply chain risks while promoting the best order fulfilment possible.
Obtaining data from Oracle and SAP as well as Dynamics 365 and other ERP suppliers. Delivering native experiences from renowned partners in logistics, planning, and transportation, including C.H. FedEx, Robinson, FourKites, and Overhaul. Supplying integrated intelligence to recognise and minimise supply and demand disruptions. Utilising the communication features of Microsoft Teams to quickly coordinate with outside vendors and discuss the upstream and downstream effects of interruptions. The company will use the Microsoft Supply Chain Platform to enhance how it fulfils and distributes orders throughout its supply chain.
Metcash is a fully integrated cog in the supply chains of thousands of independent enterprises throughout Australia and New Zealand..
Significant opportunity for companies to generate better relationships with suppliers and customers and to create a much more efficient supply chain by utilising data more effectively. The flexibility and security of strategic alliance with Microsoft also expand order management capabilities at a large scale.
The multi-year Project Horizon digital transformation programme at Metcash includes implementing the Microsoft Supply Chain Platform across the whole organisation. In July 2021, the programme got underway in collaboration with Microsoft and KPMG. As part of the project, Dynamics 365 for Finance and Dynamics 365 for Supply Chain Management will replace Metcash's ERP system. Additionally, the business is implementing Teams and other modern workplace tools from Microsoft 365 throughout the entire organisation, moving legacy environments to Microsoft Azure, and adding data to Azure Synapse Analytics.
